Ryan Ver Berkmoes never stops savoring his walks around Portland, a city whose rivers, parks and ever-changing neighborhoods constantly beguile. From his home in Irvington he never tires of the myriad walks that radiate in every direction. Always up for a new exploration, Ryan is also happy for a stop at one of the city's many diverting hangouts. A longtime journalist, he has traveled the world for newspapers and magazines, covering topics from wars to bars (he much prefers the latter). He's the author of more than 70 guidebooks on destinations as diverse as Bali, Ireland, and New Orleans. His book Walking Chicago has won critical acclaim for its explorations of the Windy City.
