    What a guy!!!

I have to admit, I normally hate reading. I have about three or four books that i started to read but just didn't have the interest to finish them. All that changed when i picked up this book. I purchased it because of my childish love for the Disney World and everything associated with it. I love this book, i am not even all the way done with it and i can say it's one of my favorties. I couldn't wait to get to the next page to see how he was going to get out of each financial mess or what he would come up with next. Walt Disney was an amazing man and everything about his personality amazed me. If i ever have to recommend a book to anyone, it would be this one, (and Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger). Although I am a female, Walt Disney is someone I can see myself striving to be as I becme older. He never gave in to people who didn't believe in his vision and his dream. Walt Disney was truly amazing and I hope that his legacy of imagintions and dreams lives on forever.

An excellent biography of an American icon

I read this biography with considerable interest. I was not very old when Walt Disney died, but I remember watching the Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday evening. Even at that young age, I recognized that Walt Disney was something special, something unique. This book helped to give me a sense of Walt Disney that was much deeper than what I could possibly have gotten from his Sunday night shows or even his movies and cartoon characters. This book brought a real sense of humanity to this great American icon. It helped me to see that Walt Disney was just a man, but a man with a vision and the courage to follow his dreams even in the face of seemingly overwhelming obstacles. This book takes the reader on a journey from Walt¿s birth through his death and finally to the opening of Walt Disney World in Florida. This book is easy to read and seems very complete and thorough. I appreciated that the author did not seem to particularly build Walt up, nor did he tear him down. He presented the information in a factual and respectful manner. So many times biographies seem to be written to push the author¿s agenda and so information seems slanted. I did not get the feeling that this was true with this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to know Walt Disney better and to anyone that would like to read about a true American success story.

    very informative

this book was first published in the 70s by a man probably long gone, however, his insights and stories on the life of Walt Disney are most likely (I've only read a few) best of quality in comparison to other books about Walt. -A must for Disney buffs!

    Wonderful Walt

Great Biography! It lets you really get to know the man behind the mouse. I never knew his childhood and it's quite interesting. I had to do a project on someone, and I love all things Disney, so I decided to get to know the man behind it all a little better, and boy! It was a great read! If you love Disney, have ever been to Disney World/Land, have seen any Disney movie, then this book is a must! You really get to know Walt!

Excellent Look at a Basic man with a Extraordinary Dream

As an avid Disney World fan and patron I felt the need to look deeper into the man who created an American Empire. Excellent read and awe inspiring for anyone who might have any ideas of making a dream come true of their own.

Great Introduction to the Man Behind the Mouse

Compared with other biographies I've read, this one manages to be thorough without allowing itself to get bogged down in detail. True, the book slows to a crawl when recounting the Mary Poppins production, but overall, I found this work to be a fast, enjoyable and well-written biography that gave me a deeper appreciation of Mr. Disney. Please keep in mind that this book was published by Disney, so some of Walt's faults may have been glossed over, but who cares? I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a deeper understanding of the man behind the mouse.

    Walt Disney

My favorite character in this book is Walt Disney because I liked what he did in Orlando, Florida and because he painted a pig on his house.

    AN INSPIRING DREAM

This biography of the life of Walter Elias Disney has inspired me to reach new goals in life and not take life for granted. This one man's imagination has proven to the World to Dream. In later years, this book should be labled a classic.

    Disney's best face yet...

I thought this biography was the most fun and entertaining book I have ever read. I almost forgot I was assigned to read it.Bob Thomas gives us the very personal and detailed view of Walt's life and his hard, long struggle in the animation world. The stages of Walt's life are seperated into very simple, and easily understood chapters. I learned a lot about the great Walt disney, his life and his legacy through this fine book.I recommend this book to anyone with a big heart and an imaginative mind. :)
