Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Based on the enduring tale originally written by Sir James M. Barrie, this enjoyable adaptation tells the story of young Wendy, Michael and John and their adventures in Never Land. While looking for his shadow, Peter Pan meets the three children and tells them of a special place where they will never grow up. With wonderful thoughts and just a little pixie dust, the children are soon flying out of their nursery window and straight to the stars. Things are not always pleasant in Never Land, however. Captain Hood seeks revenge on Peter Pan, and Peter's little fairy friend, Tinker Bell, grows increasingly jealous of Wendy. Ultimately, Peter Pan must meet face-to-face with his nemesis and settle all scores once and for all. The beautiful illustrations are adapted by Disney artists John Hench and Al Dempster, and are based on the 1953 film. Told in less than thirty pages, young readers will enjoy the timeless story as well as the warm and familiar pictures. 2001, Disney Editions, $14.99. Ages 5 to 10. Reviewer: Denise Daley
