Overview

Verbally abused by her mother for years, 18-year-old Ellie Johnson always believed she would never be loved or wanted by anyone. She focused all of her attention on her grades and getting into the University of Texas to start a new life away from her mother. The last thing Ellie expected was to fall in love with Gunner Mathews, a starting linebacker for the University of Texas football team and not to mention, her brother's best friend. Gunner only has two passions in life, football and his grandfather's ranch, until he falls for his best friend's little sister. He will stop at nothing to show Ellie how much he wants her, even if it means he has to move faster than she would like. Gunner knows they are meant to be together forever, but Ellie keeps denying her feelings out of fear of being hurt again. Every time he gets close to winning her love, something pushes her away again. Will Ellie ever be able to let go of the past and let him into her heart and will Gunner be patient enough to wait for her?

Just odd. Good concept, but sentences didn't flow and the dialogue was that of a child. Everything seemed forced. I'm open to curse words, but it was overkill in this book. Basically, it needs a major editing job.

At one point in thia book, the Kindle version I read, the authos has Ellie describing an engagement right. She said it has diamond "begets." Um, that's not what that word means. The word, Miss Elliot, that you are looking for would be b-a-g-u-e-t-t-e-s. "Begets" means to sire a child. I was so embarassed for the author of this book, not just for the aforementioned faux pas, but because the entire book read like a junior high school English teacher's worst nightmare. Usually I can overlook crappy writing if the characters are likeable, but the writing was blatanly terrible, I couldn't take the story seriously. And Ellie. Dear, sweet, horribly insecure Ellie. She was so insecure that she became a huge pain in the ass to Gunner, but, to his credit, he hung in there, even though the poor girl is bat guano crazy. Example: Ellie sees Gunner and several other people talking in a group, and there is a girl she doesn't know standing around in said group with them. Her immediate thought is that Gunner is obviously f***ing her. Totally normal response, right? No. Just, no. Then, she sees Gunner hug a girl. The natural conclusion is that he's f***ing her, too. See a pattern? If I were a fourteen year-old virgin, with no dating experience ever, this book would totally do it for me. I am not, so this book was so far beyond ridiculous, I don't even know the word for it. Begets, maybe? This book is begets.

Overall the story line and plot was spot on and had me wanting more, however, the author should have really considered having someone proof read the whole book. Also, waaaay too much cursing. Its almost as if the author is an older woman trying to be cool and curse a whole bunch so the younger crowd will like her. If you can get past the cursing and the gramatical errors its a good read.

I thought the dialogue sounded really immature. I literally cringed at some of the lines that were said because they were so corny. I'm all about romance but this to me was unrealistic. And why were all these 18 year old girls gettimg married after dating these guys for a few months? Also, the amount of cursing was pretty excessive and unnecessary.

Horrible grammar, spelling and punctuation. The swearing in it was juvenile and the story was written by someone with little talent. Do not waste your money

What a great read. Being from Texas I loved everything about it and the love story between Ellie and Gunner AND Jefferson and Ari made for a great read. Cannot wait to read more from Kelly Elliott

I am so excited that there are more books to come. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED GUNNER!!! WOW! What a man!! He changed Ellie and showed her what it was to be wanted after never before feeling that way in her life. Her alcoholic mother abused her verbally all her life. Her brother did everything he could to make her life better. Turns out his best friend was the best thing life could ever bring Ellie. Ellie's character grows before our eyes and I love the passion that her and Gunner share. I loved Jefferson as a brother, but had a bit of growing to do as a man. I loved how much Ellie's best friend Avi did for her. I am looking forward to read the story of Jefferson and Avi next!! It can't be released soon enough.

Overall the story line was good, but it needed to be edited for punctuation and grammer and was somewhat unrealistic. The swearing was juvenile and overdone but we are dealing with 18 year olds fresh out of high school. I'm interested in Jeff and Ari's story but have very little hope that we'll see anything different in the author's writing style, which I'm not exactly looking forward to.

I have read a lot of books in my life and i can honestly say this rates about a 9.9 on the scale of horrible!...it was like a 13 year old girl wrote it. Save your money and remember never buy a book for its cover.

It reads like a teenage girl wrote the book and never had someone proofread it. I was frustrated with the storyline, swearing and grammatical errors by page 50.

Loved this book, I couldn't put it down until unfortunately I had to, but I spent my entire lunch break the next day in my car reading because I had to find out what was going to happen next. Now I am reading the second book which I can't put down either. Recommended!!

I loved the story lines and the way the chapters are written in different POV. I am ready to read the next one.

I really thought this book was worth the cost. The characters are really developed, but at times, it dragged on. Also, i wish we would know more about Jeff's relationship. Overall.... its over 300 pages and very little sex scenes.

This was a good book and i enjoyed it very much. There is a lot of cursing though, which i dont usually mind but saying the f bomb every other sentence is too much. Very poor editing, the grammar mistakes are ridiculous!!

GIVE ME MR. DARCY...I had heard so much about these books I thought I would give them a chance. I love a good romance but this wasn't a good romance. Seriously what happened to the old fashioned love stories when love wasn't about having sex, or talking about sex.I hate the f word and each time I read it, over and over and over again I cringed. Seriously I've watched war movies where the soldiers didn't cuss as much as these characters. I looked at a few more of the authors books and read the samples and its the samething. The obscene cussing, the complete overkill was way to much and the charactors were so immmuture. I will not be reading anymore of her books.

Horrific grammer, spelling, punctuation! I could have done a better edit job on this book then was done! Books this poorly edited are not much fun to read, Have heard that "Saved" is worse as far as editing! Can't decide if I should purchase it or not! So sad!

I wanted to like this story but struggled to finish it. I never gripe about editing but this was bad. It was hard to read and was often so fake/cheesy i wanted to gag.

So very tired of these young heroines. 18/19 even 20 is way too young to be a heroine in a romance novel. So corny and high school (ish). Not believable and unrelatable.
