Overview

He's a vampire from the big city . . .

Phineas McKinney thought New York City was tough, until he was attacked by Malcontents—evil vampires who consider mortals to be snacks. Saved by the good vampires, Phin swore to devote his now undead life to stopping the Malcontents. He's got his job cut out for him when word comes that their enemy may be hiding in Wyoming. What does a city boy like him know about horses and campfires? Good thing he's got Brynley Jones with him . . . if only she didn't hate every vampire on earth.

She's a werewolf princess . . .

Bryn believes vampires are seductive and charming, and that makes them dangerous. So she's more than a little annoyed about teaming up with Phin, even if he is the only bloodsucker able to make her inner wolf purr. But as they hunt down the new leader of the Malcontents, danger threatens . . . and Phineas and Brynley discover a passion that will rock the foundation of their supernatural world.

The silly almost stereotypical dialogue almost turned me away.

Overall, i enjoyed the book. I have read many of her other books, so i could understand and enjoy the world she has created. The dialogue between phineaus and his brother was horrible in the beginning. His dialect seemed to be taken from some cheesy low budget movie with "ghetto" slang. The use of the names Leroy and Lamont was silly. Sparks tried too hard characterizing black males. She made them seem almost stereotypes. While as a black female, I do appreciate a black hero as the protagonist. But, less slang would have made the book better. Overall, the love story was worth it.

    Ok but not great

Was an ok book. The ending was so ridiculous that i had to deduct another star. I dont want to reveal too much but how could he be the first vampire bitten by a werewolf? It was a silly plot device.

    Silly but fun and entertaining

When i first started reading this book, i thought it was kind of silly and kind of cheesy. I imagine Phins brother as some reject from Jersey Shore. The vampire tv network was also kind of silly along with the vamp tv shows. I thought they were pointless to add and keep talking about the real vampire housewives.
The book does get alot better as you go along and you end up getting sucked into the whole story. The plot was pretty good as well as the background of the characters and their description. Although bringing in the shifters like the were-bear and the were-panther were pointless and didn't need to be in the story. The author could have made them either wolves or vamps.
The ending was pretty good and the author can take the next book into alot of different paths.
Even though i say some of the book was silly, it was very fun to read and i still could not put the book down and the author did keep my attention and wanting me to keep reading. I will definantly get the next book in the series.

    Hmmm

I've read all the books in this series and enjoyed them. This one was just horrible. After all this time of trying to get thru it I'm only on page 81. I finally give up, there was a really bad storyline and the writing was just as bad. Sometimes it is better to end a series while it's good. In this case it was 1 to many. Not worth the paper it was written on.

I read this book and it wasn't as good as the oAnd the ther book

I read this book and it wasn't as good as the oAnd the ther books. The chemistry between the two characters really?? The plot really was not that good at all like the other books in her series. I woudn't recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of this series and don't waste your money on this one!

    Love the series

I agree with the girl who said that phineas' slang was very stereotypical. As a person who has read all of the love at stake books, that has to be my only complaint. But, i still love the story line!
