i really like reading kerrelyn sparks books and this one was great the only thing i wish i there could be more steamy sex (very little - or in my case the sex was very censored)

When i first started reading this book, i thought it was kind of silly and kind of cheesy. I imagine Phins brother as some reject from Jersey Shore. The vampire tv network was also kind of silly along with the vamp tv shows. I thought they were pointless to add and keep talking about the real vampire housewives. The book does get alot better as you go along and you end up getting sucked into the whole story. The plot was pretty good as well as the background of the characters and their description. Although bringing in the shifters like the were-bear and the were-panther were pointless and didn't need to be in the story. The author could have made them either wolves or vamps. The ending was pretty good and the author can take the next book into alot of different paths. Even though i say some of the book was silly, it was very fun to read and i still could not put the book down and the author did keep my attention and wanting me to keep reading. I will definantly get the next book in the series.

Overall, i enjoyed the book. I have read many of her other books, so i could understand and enjoy the world she has created. The dialogue between phineaus and his brother was horrible in the beginning. His dialect seemed to be taken from some cheesy low budget movie with "ghetto" slang. The use of the names Leroy and Lamont was silly. Sparks tried too hard characterizing black males. She made them seem almost stereotypes. While as a black female, I do appreciate a black hero as the protagonist. But, less slang would have made the book better. Overall, the love story was worth it.

Phineas McKinney, aka Dr. Phang, The Love Doctor is our hero in book 12 of the Love at Stake series. After failing to attract a mate in previous books it’s his turn to take the spotlight. As head of security for MacKay S & I he’s on a mission to capture Corky, the Queen of the Malcontents. But chasing her into Wyoming can be a bit difficult for the Dr. Phang on his own. Brynley, who Phineas refers to as Snout Face is chosen to be his helpmate during this mission. She detests every vampire and certainly Phineas with his attitude is no exception. However, he does send her motor running. Brynley finds herself captured and returned to her father which means a slow death for her. Now Phineas find himself with two missions. He must capture Corky and he must rescue Brynley from her father and the husband he has chosen for her. I love the Love at Stake series. Kerrelyn never disappoints the readers with each new installment. There is always action, fun, and great new characters introduced. The backwoods were-bear, Digger and his helmet wearing dog Jake are my favorite new characters! As usual Kerrelyn has set into motion changes with our characters that will be interesting to follow. I can’t wait to see what happens with Phineas and Brynley in future installments of the Love at Stake series!

Wanted: Undead or Alive by Kerrelyn Sparks Love At Stake Series Book 12 The Love Doctor finally gets his side of the story told. It seems everyone around Phineas is falling in love...accept for the Love Doctor himself. Oh the women want him and his uniqueness until the next thing comes along but there is no love in the air for the doctor. And the one person who makes him think of the blue sky he'll never see again every time he looks into her eyes...well she's a bit furry and has a deep hatred for the fanged community. When Corky decides to take her show into hiding and making herself Queen of the Malcontents...Phineas and Brynley are thrown together to hunt her down in the Jone's old stomping grounds, Wyoming. Brynley loved watching the commercials with Phineas. She could listen to his sexy voice and look at that sculpted body. He was always calling her Snout Face so she knew he would never care for a werewolf. Not that they could ever make it anyway. Vampires used people and seduced them. And her father would hunt down and kill anyone he didn't approve of. When she was needed to go protect Phineas during the daytime and help him search the area for Corky during the night...was it too close for comfort and or comfortable closeness? You'll have to read the book to find out the rest of the story. Brynley is the twin sister to Phil, Forbidden Nights with a Vampire. I enjoyed this book as I have with the previous 11. I like that each book brings back the characters and as in this book...we get to see some updates in the couples lives. Being we have seen Dr. Phang and all his antics since the time he was rescued from the Malcontents in Angus and Emma's story, Be Still My Vampire Heart, it was nice seeing him in his own tale and hearing about his past. Kerrelyn writes in such a way that the characters come to life. You can feel their anxiety, sadness and desires. *Contains sexual situations.

I agree with the girl who said that phineas' slang was very stereotypical. As a person who has read all of the love at stake books, that has to be my only complaint. But, i still love the story line!
