Overview

In Rosewood, majestic estates sprawl for acres, and Tiffany toggle bracelets dangle from every girl's wrist. But not all that glitters is gold, and the town harbors secrets darker than anyone could imagine—like the truth about what really happened the night Alison DiLaurentis went missing. . . .

Back in middle school, Ali plucked Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer from obscurity and turned them into the beautiful, popular girls everyone wanted to be. Ali was the best friend they ever had. But she also made them do terrible things and taunted them with their worst secrets. Now, three years later, all their questions about Ali have finally been answered and they can put this awful chapter of their lives behind them. Or so they think.

Not every story has a happy ending, especially when four pretty little liars have done so many wicked things. In the dramatic conclusion of Sara Shepard's bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer could get everything they've ever wanted—unless A has one more horrifying twist in store.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Haley Maness
Four former friends—Hanna, Spencer, Aria, and Emily—have been reunited after the disappearance of Allison, the fifth member of their group of friends. After the girls reunite, mysterious text messages containing well-buried secrets begin to arrive. This book was published after the "end" of the "Pretty Little Liars" series, to which it belongs. This series also formed the basis for a popular television show. Readers originally enjoyed this series for its quality writing and intriguing plot twists. While the plot of this book is still intriguing, the quality of the writing has clearly diminished since publication of the first novel. The plot is like a last attempt by a bad soap opera to avoid cancellation. Although it may be a compelling beach read, much of the dialogue and plot twists can be found in the author's earlier novels. Many racy themes are found throughout this title, which clearly function as plot fillers. Readers should expect a disappointing read lacking in depth when they bring this book to the beach. Teenagers who enjoyed the original books in the series would also enjoy the TV show. Reviewer: Haley Maness
VOYA - Heather Christensen
The final installment in this popular series continues to offer more melodrama and outlandish plot twists. Three years after the murder of their best friend, Ali, the four teen girls known as the Pretty Little Liars are finally ready to get on with their lives. The capture of Billy—the murderer and author of a slew of threatening notes—should allow Spencer, Emily, Aria, and Hanna to relax; however, the shocking news that Ali had a twin sister hidden away in a mental hospital sends them into a tailspin, and the carefully fabricated web of deception slowly begins to unravel around them. The third-person narrative alternates between the viewpoints of each of the four girls. Readers who haven't read the other books in the series may have trouble keeping up with the previous plot developments, many of which are turned on their head in this conclusion. The characters are shallow and somewhat stereotyped, but the fast-paced plot spirals wildly to the end. Fans of the series will probably find satisfaction in the happy, though somewhat open, ending. Product placements and branding abound in this story of rich girls behaving badly, but with a television series to help it along, expect this teenage soap opera to fly off the shelves. Sadly, the PRETTY LITTLE LIARS have come to an end. WANTED is the 8th and final installment in this highly addicting and twisted series.

As with the previous books in the series, WANTED is filled with mysteries and twists and turns that leave the reader wondering how it will play out. Being the final part of this series, it's hard to write a review without giving too much away.

Another potential suspect in the murder of Alison DiLaurentis is named. But as experienced in the past, there are holes in the theory with this suspect, as well. Hanna, Aria, Emily, and Spencer want to believe that this is the true killer, but even these four have their doubts.

The story fills the reader in on the continuing lives of the four "Pretty Little Liars." Hanna has her relationship with Aria's brother, Mike. Aria is happily dating Noel Kahn. Spencer is finally getting along with her family and is content with her relationship with Andrew. And Emily is the swim captain and dealing with her sexual orientation.

As WANTED builds towards the climax, a new and unexpected character is introduced who helps to weave all of the past clues from "A" into that one final "ah" moment. You know that moment. When everything you've read in the previous books all comes together and the light bulb goes off - and you realize that Ms. Shepard brilliantly wove the story that could keep you guessing literally right up until the final chapters.

I've looked forward to each new installment of this series, and though I'm happy with the way the story ended, I'm sad to part with the rich and spoiled of Rosewood, PA.

    I KNEW IT!!!!!

So, I read these two Christmas' ago and loved them. I then got my friend hooked on them. Let me tell you, since the last book I was getting kinda skeptic at how can many more of these can she come out with? I am saddend that this is the last in the series, but gave it a restful ending(unlike twilight saga). She could even start a series of Allisons new life. I knew this was coming, since the book that they saw her in the woods. This was a fantastic series, I recommend it, and give it a restful peace as it deserves.

ok, your probably wondering why my title is sad when i gave this book 5 stars right, well because im sad this is the last book in the series! OMG, whyy cant sara shepard write more?! uhmm loved

okay so first of all i loved this book. Some things bothered me a little. but i'm glad it ended like it did. that it leaves the mystery that she could still be alive. But I have a few questions that were left unanswered...
WHYYYYY WAS THE IRIS GIRL SO WEIRD WITH HANNA? that was never figured out like why did she treat her like that?
    anddd...
WHAT WAS THE DEAL WITH WILDENS AMISH GIRLFRIEND?!
uhmm they never figure out what that whole deal was, and how that somehow connected EMILY with everything? Uuhm like why did emily even go there, what significance did that have.
why did ali/courtney send her that?!!!!

I Wish This Was The Last One

Honesty this was the best on out of the whole series. It basically wrapped everything up greatly. This wouldve been a perfect end but hopefully the ones following will be as good too.

    AMAZING!!!!!!

OH MY GOSH! I've been waiting months for this book to come out! I had so many questions and FINALLY I got them answered. This series is absolutely phenomenal and I would recommend it to anybody who like s agood mystery. WARNING! Don't read it at night with the light off! ******SPOILER ALERT*****
I totally called it in the 6th book, Killer, when the girls saw Ali in the forest. I absolutely knew she had to have an identical twin. I had zero idea that she'd be so psycho! WHich she am I talking about? You'll hafta read to find out ;)
Also, I thought Sara Shepard did a brilliant job with the entire series. I admire her so so so much.
I am, unfortunately, worried about the TV show. The acting in my opinion looks terrible and NONE of the characters look like they're supposed to. This is a HUGE let down to the hundreds of avid readers. If you are interested in the PLL show I would wholy recommend that you read the books instead: SO MUCH BETTER
All in all I absolutely love! So sad the series is over :( *tear. But I'm super excited for Shepard's new series, "The Lying Game".
