Overview

In her delightful novel, Getting What You Want, Kathy Love introduced the Stepp sisters, three unique women with wildly different ideas about love and life. Now, meet Ellie, the romantic middle sister who's about to take a chance on having what she's always wanted. . .

This Can't Be Happening

Is he flirting with me? I must be imagining things. Why would Mason Sweet, the gorgeous mayor of Millbrook, Maine, the man I've secretly been in love with since seventh grade, flirt with me? He's the town golden boy, and I'm, well, the local librarian. The Stepp sister who stayed close to home. The one who bakes brownies. . .then eats them all. My thighs make that whick-whick-whick sound in pantyhose. He can't possibly be flirting with me. So why is he giving me that melt-you-where-you-stand look? Why is he pulling me close? And what is he whispering in my ear. . .

Sorry, could you repeat that? Now I'm hearing things, because I swear Mason just asked me if I'd like to. . .well, he wasn't asking for a book recommendation, let's put it that way. Oh my, my, my. Okay, Ellie, stop blushing like a teenaged girl. I'm sure he didn't mean it. Maybe I should just alphabetize something. Be the good girl everyone expects. Eat another brownie. Forget this ever happened.
So why is it I can't stop myself from saying, "Yes. . .."

I really enjoyed this love story. I like the way Mason's addiction was handled. I liked that his addiction was current and not something had already been worked through.

Wanting What You Get is the touching, realistic love story of shy, unassuming Ellie Stepp and her long-time crush, golden boy Mason Sweet. Ellie is not your typical romance novel heroine; she is much more real and indentifiable. As is our 'hero', Mason Sweet, who struggles with an addiction to alcohol that nearly costs him everything. From the time Mason makes his shocking offer to the town librarian to her equally shocking acceptance of it, the reader is drawn into the complex and often bittersweet relationship growing between them. Both are deeply affected and forever changed because of it. Wanting What You Get is a fascinating character study as well as a top notch contemporary romance novel.

I love this story. I read the ending of this book while listening to Adele's version of I cant make you love song and i just cried. I love the characters i love the story and i love how this was written. Although i got this book for free on my ebook app on my phone and there was so many typos in them. I still had the chance to really enjoy it. Im looking forward to buy a copy to add on my collection :)

I didn't read her first book about Abby and Chase, but I will get it. I finished this story in a couple of hours. Ellie was just so sweet and kind. I'm glad she got her prince!

Wanting What You Get tells the moving story of the middle sister, Ellie Stepp. Ellie, local librarian has always been the good one. At her sisters wedding she is paired with best man Mason Sweet. Ellie has had a crush on Mason since he stood up for her in grade school. She can't believe Mason seems to be flirting with her. Mason Sweet the towns golden boy has grown up to become mayor. Lately he cannot get thoughts of Ellie Stepp out of his mind. Mason is convinced he is no longer the man for a serious relationship. So he offers Ellie an affair, shockingly she says YES. Ellie and Mason both have problems from their past to deal with before they can make this affair turn into something more. It takes a serious wake up call for Mason to admit he has a problem. Wanting What You Get is an emotional, funny and sexy book. There are traits in both characters that will pull at your heart. I really could identify with Ellie, we need more real characters. And Masons drinking problem was written very true to life. Looking forward to Marty Stepp's story.

Ellie Stepp and Mason Sweet were classmates who had nothing in common, although that didn't stop Ellie from falling for him even as a kid. The quiet, shy, chubby Ellie was always the butt of the mean kids' jokes ('the ugly Stepp sister') and Mason was the superstar, joke, rich-kid headed to college to make a name and a life for himself. Years later when Mason and Ellie are thrown together as bestman and maid of honor for her sister Abby Stepp and Chase Morgan's wedding(Mason's best friend), the sparks fly. Ellie can't believe that Mason-the gorgeous, now divorced town mayor would even give the still sweet, town good girl, librarian the time of day. You'll love the tenderness they give to each other and working out the issues they grew up with or developed about themselves. This was a true page turner. If you like the ups and downs of love and the obstacles that sometimes get in the way, you'll love this book.
