Лев Николаевич Толстой (1828–1910) — русский писатель, философ, общественный деятель, один из величайших классиков мировой литературы. Он родился в семье аристократов на Ясной Поляне, в Тульской губернии, и получил домашнее образование. В молодости Толстой служил в армии и участвовал в Крымской войне, что оставило глубокий след в его жизни и произведениях. Толстой стал известен благодаря своим великим романам, таким как Война и мир (1869) и Анна Каренина (1877), в которых он подробно исследует человеческие судьбы, нравственные дилеммы, социальные и философские вопросы. Его произведения олицетворяют реализм в литературе, уделяя внимание подробному изображению жизни разных слоев общества. Со временем Толстой обратился к религиозным и философским поискам. Он развил собственное учение, основанное на христианской этике, и активно выступал против власти, церкви и капиталистического общества.
