This isn't a book about space combat. It's not supposed to be a book about space combat. If you have such a narrow view of what you will read, then this book isn't for you. If you like military sci-fi and also like sci-fi and don't need to have everything shot up from the first page to the last, then read on.

This is a book about war, the nature of war in the future and the implications of changes to how we will wage war, who we war with and in the ways it might affect us and the human species. There are some great action combat stories and some great stories that don't have combat. Just like real war; it's not always about one guy shooting at another. Some of these stories are unsettling, some are mind-bending, some talk of duty and honor, some are about evil and despicable things (and humans), and some just shoot things up. Really, much less a military sci-fi and much more a science fiction look at war. If you like David Weber or Eric Flint type military sci-fi, there are some stories like theirs, which I like. as well But also stories that look at what war does to those around us and how it might be different in the future, stories that might make you think, which I like to do as well.

Very interesting and an exceptional read for sci-fi fans, whether you are a military sci-fi fan or not.

Great book, lots of short stories. Not all about war in space but how war can touch the lives of everyone in and around it. Some are in space and some are not but they all take place in some future setting.
