A compilation of historical information, biographies, documents, contributed biographical information, memories and remembrances from people who lived in Ware, Illinois primarily from the 1940's through the 1960's. It is a snapshot of the life and times in this small community during the period and includes a variety of black and white and color photos.

Some historical information included describes businesses and landmarks, historical schools of the area, churches, local news of the times and local news coverage of the 1943-44 flood of the Mississippi River. There are historical drawings, surveys, maps and plat maps in the 268 pages. This expanded version includes several older photos beginning in 1928.

About the Author

Tess Hazel-Ford spent her early years in Ware, Illinois and lived in the Southern Illinois region most of her adult life. She worked in health and social services, completing degrees in Nursing, Administration and a PhD in Health Education. She worked as a project developer, director, researcher and grant writer in her career and since her retirement has focused her efforts more on historical and genealogical research and writing. She spends her free time on her small farm, in writing and research, with her family and in playing guitar and singing.

Kimberly D. Ford, MSW, LCSW, daughter of the author, served as editor.
Archie Guy Hazel, BS, brother of the author, also spent his youth in Ware assisted with research and served as primary content editor as well as technical editor.
