About the Author

Tess Hazel-Ford spent her early years in Ware, Illinois and lived in the Southern Illinois region most of her adult life. She worked in health and social services, completing degrees in Nursing, Administration and a PhD in Health Education. She worked as a project developer, director, researcher and grant writer in her career and since her retirement has focused her efforts more on historical and genealogical research and writing. She spends her free time on her small farm, in writing and research, with her family and in playing guitar and singing.

Kimberly D. Ford, MSW, LCSW, daughter of the author, served as editor.
Archie Guy Hazel, BS, brother of the author, also spent his youth in Ware assisted with research and served as primary content editor as well as technical editor.
