Overview

After losing her parents in a brutal attack from a monster straight out of her nightmares, Gwendolyn Preston tries to pick up the shattered pieces of her life. Along with her best friend, she moves to a small fishing village on the coast of Maine to find a new life away from the nightmares that haunt her. Just when she believes her life could go back to normal, the deliciously dark and handsome Markus Sullivan disrupts her hopes to grieve in peace.

Markus drew the short straw when it came to being the liaison between his father, Ares—God of War—and his brothers. When he discovers that the earth bound demi-gods, known as the descendants, have banded together to start another rebellion against the gods, it becomes his number one priority to stop them.

That is until he meets Gwen, the granddaughter of Aphrodite, and the next target of the descendants. Together, their path is rife with passion and danger. It might take more than the son of War to win this battle…Gwen herself.

~ 3.5 War's Passion Stars ~ War's Passion is book one in the Sons of War series by Lia Davis. This is my first time reading Lia Davis and I have to say I enjoyed War's Passion enough to go out and pick up book two Ashes of War. The author delivers an interesting spin on mythology, Demi-gods & goddesses, the Fates, and much more. I enjoyed the world building and concept created to weave an intricate tail.  We are given lots of information, but in a way that you don't feel bogged done with to much at once. The story moves along quickly. The romance is an insta-attraction, once the leads meet. Markus knows right away once laying eyes on Gwendolyn what she is to him. Gwendolyn doesn't understand yet why she is drawn to him, the same type of creature that caused her parents deaths.  Markus I enjoyed. He's got the whole Alpha Male Leader vibe going for him, plus he's a sexy dragon. I'm a sucker for dragons. I have to say I wasn't very impressed with Gwen. She is running away and always scared. She's wimpy, but does get herself together by the end.   Gwen and Markus relationship felt forced. The believability wasn't their for me. Even with the soul mate thing happening. I think this had to do with Gwen. She was lacking as a heroine for me, but also her dragon issues where over the top; with her going into a panic attack whenever she sees a dragon. So, for her to get over it and fall in love within 2 days with Markus, just wasn't believable. I loved the secondary characters. All the brothers and of course the two lady's, one that is Gwen's sister and Ash who is a spy for the gods. The way the author weaves them into the story and also set's up two more potential mate hook ups, if they can figure everything out, was very much enjoyed. These secondary characters are what made me decide to continue and pick up the next book. I really want to see what happens with them.  War's Passion delivers lots of action, adventure, intriguing characters, and sexy dragon brothers. This was a good read and a nice start to the series.  Reviewed by Angela @ Angel's Guilty Pleasures

Received this book for an honest with you from the other. If you enjoy books about the gods Ares Artemis, Aphrodite, Zeus, Hades, anyone up on Olympus I think you'll enjoy this book. The story started a little slow but it picked up and I enjoyed the interactions among the dragons and the two girls Gwen and Elle. Both their lives had been uprooted over the last 15 years or longer but a change was going to come. If you're caught up on actual historical mythological fact I don't know if you will enjoyed this book I personally didn't care I enjoyed the story The Way It Was Written I can't wait to read the next book. With any story about where you have the good faction the bad factions and the uncommitted factions. Right now you have Garrick on the bad team and the gods of Olympus on the uncommitted team, while the Dragon and The Descendants on the good side.

Reviewed by Rabia Tanveer for Readers' Favorite In War’s Passion by Lia Davis, all the gods, demigods and dragons are coming! When Gwendolyn Preston’s parents were killed by a dragon, she knew that either she had gone mad or she needed to leave the city. Her best friend accompanied her and now the two of them are living in a small house in a fishing village in picturesque Maine. She wants to re-start her life away from those nightmarish creatures and away from any implication of it. However, just when she believes that her life has gone back to normal, a deadly, dark and mouthwateringly handsome stranger enters her life and takes everything back to square one. Markus Sullivan is not your normal man. He is the son of the God of War and even if that was not enough, he has to become the liaison between his father and his other brothers. The demigods are trying to rebel against the gods and start a war that will only bring more misery and havoc into their lives. It is his responsibility to stop them. He finds out their next target is the granddaughter of Aphrodite; her name is Gwendolyn and she needs to be protected from the war. Together, they have to find a way to stop the war and Markus has to find a way to keep her safe. Soon, passion and desire ignite and they have to fight to keep their hands off each other, or give in to the temptation and find a way to do all that is necessary and keep each other in their lives as well. War’s Passion by Lia Davis is not what you expect. You will think of a cheesy romance with a hint of paranormal, but it is so much more than that. Instead of instant love, there is an instant attraction. Their passion is not over the top erotic but very elegant. Plus, the mythological elements are not in your face, but rather they are easy to digest and anticipate. Five stars from this amazed reader. I really enjoyed it! Can't wait for more from this author!

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Preston witnessed her parents murder but she's left with heartbreaking fact that Aphrodite didn't protect her family from harm. Fourteen years have passed Gwen is still faced with many fears but no longer trusts or puts faith in Gods and Goddesses. Markus Sullivan is the son of Ares and one of Sons of War charged with task of protecting descendants from his brother Gary's hand. When Markus discovers that Gwen and her sister Elle are descendants in need of protection he moves into action. Can Gary be stopped? Will Gwen regain her faith? Your answers await you in War's Passion. I've always been fascinated by mythology. This book plays right into that fascination. I love the characters and story! Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

I received a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review. This was the first time I've ever read anything from this author and I am now a fan! This story was fun and entertaining in a hot paranormal way. Great start to a wonderful series.

Greek mythos and Dragon shape shifters together in one book. Sign me up! This is a refreshing twist on mythology for me with enough of what I actually know combined with something new an exciting. Gwen is a demigod which in this story means that she has the blood of the gods in her but she was not born on Olympus. Being born on earth makes her a mortal and subject to the rules the Gods have placed on them. Gwen knows that she is Aphrodite's grand daughter, but after traumatic events that resulted in her parents' deaths via a scary black dragon, she does not accept that part of herself. She has the gift of persuasion, but she has locked it down for years. Unfortunately, a winged man keeps appearing where ever she goes causing her to move across the country to remain in hiding. Her fear of dragons comes to life when she meets the sons of War (Ares), the legendary dragon warriors. Her body betrays her by being drawn to Markus. She fears him and at the same time wants nothing more than to be with him. How can these warring emotions be reconciled? How will Markus deal with his growing attraction to Gwen when he is forbidden from mating with the demigods? How will he protect her from the dragon, his brother, who is hunting her down to use in a war against the Gods? I loved this book. There are some typos and if I hadn't been so into the story, I might have marked them for the author simply because I think it had to do with the conversion to MOBI. Don't quote me on that though. It was exciting, sexy, and entertaining. I read it in one day when I had planned to read it over the course of a week. I just had to know what would happen next. I am actually going to read the second book next because I am so excited about the series.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle: War's Passion was my first foray into the lovely imagination of Lia Davis, and what a great place to start. A family of dragon shifters descended rom Ares' dragon a la the legend of the Spartoi, Demi-gods & goddesses descended from Artemis, Aphrodite, Nyx, the Fates & more, a lovely open society world in a quaint seaside town, a surprising twist, an antagonist with tension (also a family member) and some red hot passion.  Trying to get away from destructive events of her past, Gwen (our heroine) moves to a small town in Maine with her best friend and adopted sister. Unbeknownst to her, however, Markus (our hero) and his brothers - the same types of creatures that haunt her nightmares -  live there as well, and their fates are inexorably intertwined.   As the brothers try to stop their rogue brother and his band of misfits from starting a war with the gods and protect Gwen, her sister and the other Descendants from being tools in Garrick's nefarious plot, we get a wonderfully paced and fresh new paranormal romance in a  fantastic new world full of myth and magic I'm really looking forward to Ty and Ash's book in book #2. **I normally wouldn't do this, but I feel it unfair to the readers not to mention it. There were a lot of editing issues in the book (I purchased the eBook copy). The story was really, very good, but you do need to try and ignore the misused words, missing words, etc throughout the book and just concentrate on the tale.

So I have read all of Lia Davis’ Ashwood Falls Series and fallen in love with her characters. I can’t get enough so I figured I would try her new series Sons of War. I haven’t really gotten into dragon shifters yet, but I’m so glad I tried this one out. The story was short and sweet. I loved that we get a sneak in to a couple of the other matings that will be coming up as well. I can’t wait for Ash and Ty’s story or for Zavier and Elle’s. I love both pairs. There was action, smoking chemistry and a love that unfolded beautifully in War's Passion. Gwen was a strong heroine who had been through an emotional hell. She faces her demons and deals with the aftereffects of the attack on her parents. She doesn't give up and is ready to train to fight the bad guy immediately. I loved this book and can't wait for Ashes of War. War's Passion leaves off with a great beginning to that book!

Love this new series, full of sexy dragons! Gwen is a descendent of the God of Love and has spent the last 14yrs running from her parents killer! Markus is one of the brothers of the Gods of War and is asked to protect Gwen. What happens when Gwen finds out what Markus and his brothers are? Can Gwen overcome her fears? Who can they trust and will Markus be able to keep her safe? I love the brothers already and can't wait for each of their stories!! I love all the mythology! Get this book and fall in love with Markus and Gwen, follow their journey and finding their true love!
