Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Everyone has a cold and there seems to be coughing and sneezing everywhere in Mrs. Connor's class at the Robin Hill School. She tells the class that she knows a good way to get rid of the cold germs and takes everyone into the bathroom for a hand washing demonstration. Just using water is not sufficient, just doing a quick wash with soap is not sufficient, it must be with water and soap and take at least twenty seconds. In this story she has made up a little song to help the kids remember, but I have been advised that singing Happy Birthday twice also does the trick. The carry over at home is what is really important, because soap and water and singing the song will help get rid of those nasty germs that cause colds and other problems. The pen, ink and watercolor drawing have plenty of information and a bit of gross humor with the sneezing, coughing, and nose blowing that opens the story. Part of the "Ready-to-Read" series, this Level 1 book has a simple story and is appropriate for kids starting to read. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
