This book right here is why I love to read. It's exciting, fun, and just the way I like it.
It begins with an awesome plot. I'm a sucker for the plot where you a HOT, lonely guy, fighting evil yet searching for his mate. His alpha and strong, and needs that girl by his side to make him complete. I don't know why but this plot always grabs me. I like that David faced so many trials. The plot is twisted with great action. The plot is adequate enough to satisfy everything I yearn for in a book.
The love interest is amazing. It begins rough and lots of secrets. OMG! The secrets! All I kept thinking is," NO! NOT AGAIN! THEY MUST BE TOGETHER" Their love endures much but come amazingly together at the end. It's amazing how quickly I became invested in the characters and their relationship. Their chemistry is off the charts from the start. Once their eyes meet, you know your in for an awesome story!
Now, all the characters are successfully well put. I like that each character has a distinct voice. Each character is shaped well that I can really know them as if they are real. I could easily picture myself in that group. They each have loyal friendship that goes beyond anything we see. It's trusting and safe.
Wasteland is a success! Taunt and emotional, Wasteland lures the reader into a dark world unlike anything I've read. The rich narrative brings out many emotions for the reader. Better action and a good ending, it's no wonder I had to read the next book after this one. It's addictive!

There has always been a battle between good and evil. But what do you do when that battle is inside yourself? That is that very battle that David Sadler has been fighting since before his birth. But now is David’s time to shine, if only he has faith.
I really enjoyed this story. It was a great twist on the good vs. evil, light vs. dark and what happens when dark becomes light. The main characters David & Beka are both very strong, determined and courageous characters who are great at their jobs, whether they want to be or not. But when they pair up they will be unstoppable.
I am looking forward to the next installment in this series.

This book grabbed me on the first page and never let me go. We start with a half-demon who has just gotten out of 250 years of solitary confinement for not doing his last job right. Now he's in a night club, surrounded by scantily clad women and on another job. Oh, and if he gives in to any sort of carnal desire, he loses the last of his humanity and becomes full demon. Something he desperately wants to avoid. Rush did a great job with creating an alternate reality here on earth and a whole new set of creatures who live alongside us. Also, her first person narrative is from the male half-demon's perspective. Well done and unique. The battle between good an evil, a prophecy, some good old-fashioned sexual tension, it's all here. This is a great book and the sequel comes out today, handily enough. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This was the first New Adult genre book for me. It not only satisfied my curiosity about the genre bridging Young Adult to Adult but gave me high expectations for future books I'll read. Rush hits the audience right on target. The storyline is sophisticated enough to satisfy the adult paranormal romance reader while also keeping an innocence that I love about YA. It was a page-turner for me. This is a requirement since I am picky and don't get enough reading time. I also liked the male viewpoint, and I think Rush does it well. David Sadler had my sympathies from the very beginning of the story. To be honest, I didn't expect that from a demon. I recommend this to paranormal romance fans who long to see the mixture of steamy + innocence that was always in my old fav show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Was this review helpful? I was completely blown away by WASTELAND. I had read the reviews and expected it to be great, but it was more than great. I sacrificed sleep to finish this book because I could not put it down! First of all I have to give the author credit. She wrote this book from beginning to end from a guy's POV, and I never once doubted her choice to write it that way. Everything David did or said was truly believable. I really enjoyed getting to see this story through his eyes. And even though he is a demon, he has a heart of gold. I loved him! The chemistry between David and Beka was sizzling! Every look and kiss that passed between them left me with butterflies and dying to read the next page. Another thing I loved about this book was the pace and the action. There was never a point where I felt like I wanted to put the book down. Every page propelled me into the next until I found myself at the end and dying for a sequel.
WASTELAND is also a new adult book which is really refreshing. It give the older YA crowd something a bit more satisfying to read. Something a step over the YA line but not quite adult either.
Lynn Rush is a phenomenal writer. This was a truly unique read full of pulse pounding action and swoon worthy romance. I highly recommend it to anyone who looking for something fun and romantic to read. If you like paranormal romance, definitely pick this one up and give it a try. You'll be glad you did. :)

Our Review [by a LITERAL ADDICTION Associate Guest Reviewer]:
When David is released by his master from 250 years of sensory deprived captivity he is thrust into the world of life, color and touch. When he is sent to a club to locate his mark he can't keep his eyes away from a beautiful woman named Beka but he know he must not give in to his desires as it would transform him into a full demon and he wants to keep his last shred of humanity for as long as he can. When he finds out that Beka and her brother are Guardian's, whose job it is to protect the mark he was sent to retrieve, David has to decide whether to betray Beka, his master or himself.
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't read the pages fast enough. David has had a really crappy life. His mother sold him to the devil before he was even born and he must do his masters bidding or he suffers for it. When he is first released from his most recent captivity he is overwhelmed and out of touch with the times but he is watched by another demon who likes nothing more than to taunt and tempt him. His reaction to Beka is beautiful as he knows he cannot touch her. He is the perfect mix of alpha male with a lot of vulnerability thrown in. Beka is so different from him she is everything that is good and doesn't have any problem with protecting herself. She is intrigued by David as soon as she meets him but she doesn't know he is a demon. When David saves Beka and betrays his own kind he realizes he must try to find a way to get out of his contract and he realizes that his mark could be the key.
This book had it all. Action, romance, mystery and kept me guessing until the last minute. It is beautifully written and so easy to follow that it was a pleasure to read. I would recommend this to anyone who likes, angels, demons, action, romance and a story that will keep you up till 3am because you just couldn't put it down!

A review of Wasteland by Lynn Rush
By Lindsay Downs
When I opened up this book in my Kindle I knew two things. The first had to do with the cover, a single pure white feather seemingly floating against a background of dark blue, bordering on black in spots. The other, was this was a book about good vs. evil.
The cover image has a deep impact with the story, one that I didn¿t understand until almost the end.
Now, when I say good vs. evil, I mean just that. And good readers, I¿m talking about the two big guys and you know whom I¿m talking about. Then, Lynn slips in one more battle, a fight for David to maintain his soul.
From the very beginning of this book, one that I couldn¿t put down until the end, Lynn takes us a mystical fantastic journey and not only does David fight his internal demons but as he with Beka alongside fight for the souls of humanity.
This book is a must read and I can¿t wait for the next one in the series. To that note I¿m giving Wasteland four collies and a sheltie, which for those of you unfamiliar with my scoring that is four and a half out of five.
Kudos to Lynn for such a wonderful read.

This is a poignant story about the battle between good and evil. What I like most about it? The fact that the author brought the struggle down to a personal level in her hero, David. He never had a choice-- his mother had sold his soul to the devil. He is demon and must do his master's bidding. He struggles with his humanity/goodness, trying to find a way to break his bonds to darker half. Beka is just what he needs, but with her comes a temptation that could ruin him forever. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. David, half demon by his mother's blood contract, has spent 245 years at the mercy of his Master's torture. Unable to fulfill Master's demand, he was sent to the burning pits, darkness, sensory deprivation, and unending hungers. Upon his release, David is sent after Master's newest desire, Jessica Hanks, with no other information other than the name of a nightclub in Arizona and that she bears a mark. Gage, his demon 'brother', jailor, and unwanted companion, tries to intimidate David, cow him into become the full demon he knows rests inside David's body, the one who claws for release, the one who wants to taste tender flesh. But, David knows, the instant he gives into his unholy desire, his life as he knows it will be over. His humanity lost. This he cannot live with. Beka is a guardian angel sent to protect the one thing David must have, Jessica Hanks, but with as little information as David. She and her 'brother', Russell, become the operators of this nightclub where Jessica is to be found. Who is Jessica Hanks? Why is she so important? Beka has the answers to some of these questions. She knows what Jessica will transform to be. And she'll sacrifice her life to make sure it happens. But, when David meets Beka, he is tempted, first by the feel of her pale flesh, then by her lilac scent. When Jessica is discovered, it's David who ends up protecting her and saving Beka's life, linking them together forever. But, with his failure to obey Master or to give in to the desire of Beka's flesh, Master will punish David all over again. Wasteland by Lynn Rush is under Crescent Moon Press's new genre of New Adult, targeted toward the emerging late teens to early twenties, those facing first time relationships, jobs, life of an adult. It has some of the qualities of YA, looking for answers, but also some of the qualities of Adult fiction, finding love, making lasting commitments. Wasteland is the story of David Sadler, half-demon who is held by a blood contract signed by his mother before his birth. Sold for riches she never enjoyed, raped by a demon. He's a 400 year old immortal who's clinging to what's left of his human soul, who has done Master's bidding to the best of his abilities. His only failure occurred with the death of his last mark. But, even the tiniest failure earns Master's wrath, and he spent 245 of a 250 year sentence in torture, released early to find Jessica Hanks. But, what so special about this girl that makes Master release him early from punishment? Why must it be he to bring Jessica to Master? Why not one of Master's other demon slaves? What is Master truly trying to accomplish? When David is sent to retrieve Jessica, he meets Beka Abbott and he discovers some of the answers to his questions. But, will he lose himself in the process? Will he be able to resist what he desires most? Can the dark survive in the light? Wasteland is a wonderfully told tale of the discovery of truths. The title of the book speaks volumes, and it's uniquely found. Lynn Rush creates a world that exists within the bounds of the human realm, one where demons exists to do their Master's bidding, and guardian angels exist to stop the demons and protect the innocent. But, what happens when one of the innocent has been sold to evil? Forced to become what should have never been, but as destiny would have, has indeed occurred. That's what happens in Wasteland. The question is can one survive the other, be what each other needs. For PNR, UF, YA, NA readers. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Lynn Rush's Wasteland was a wonderful story of dark vs. light and filled with scenes of love between two opposites. David is a Half-Demon, striving to keep his humanity and find a way out of the blood-contract that his mother wrote with Lucifer. He doesn't know just how difficult that will be until he meets Beka, a beautiful Guardian, with which he is working against. The book is filled with intense scene after scene, between David's personal conflict, and that which is larger than him. I personally did not want to put the book down once I started reading it. I loved this book and am hoping for more from these characters (sequel pretty please) as well as more great stories from this author. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. David Sadler is half demon-half human but 100% hot. He's been forced to carry out the whims of his master, because his mother signed away his soul before he was even born. Right away I felt sorry for him because his choice between good and evil was taken away. But David is a survivor. Even though he's spent centuries doing what's been forced upon him he's never really given up hope and continues to search for a way to extract the demon from him, allowing him to be what he truly wants to become, human.
But with a demon caged inside of him, begging for release David experiences a touch of that darkness every time he gets angry, fights, or as unfortunate luck would have it, stares down a beautiful woman.
Enter, Beka Abbot. She's more than just a pretty girl in a skimpy dress. She's caught David's attention. But even she can't deny her growing attraction for the mysterious, old spoken and good looking David. Though her job might be the reason they can never be together. She's a Guardian and has been sent to protect the very thing David thinks might be the key to his humanity, a girl, Jessica Hanks. But that girl is David's most recent contract, and it's his job to take her to the dark side and to his master.
Wasteland is a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Just when you think all is well, another plot point comes out rearing its ugly head, forcing David and Beka into what seems like more of an impossible situation than the last. Even when it comes to something as simple as love David and Beka are constantly tormented and thrown in different directions. It's enough to have you fascinated, engrossed and begging for a happy ending. However, it's not just a love story, not in the least, there are gripping action and fight sequences, a list of supporting characters that add so much, and what novel wouldn't be complete without a sadistic, cruel, power-seeking Villian?
In my opinion this one truly does have it all. Wasteland makes for a captivating story that can be enjoyed by the masses and one that, man I wish I could watch on the big screen. So, if any big shot movie producers are reading this... Wasteland would be a box office hit, for sure!

Wasteland is a fast paced, action packed paranormal romance that will keep your blood pumping and your heart racing until the very end!!! David was born half human and half demon thanks to his mother selling his soul (and hers) to the devil himself! He is raised by Lucifer's right hand demon and is bond by contract to obey all orders given to him or face the harshest of punishments. He has been forced into a life of servitude but his heart and humanity hold out hope that one day he will be free of Master. Beka is a Guardian. Pure goodness through and through. She and the other Guardians are on a mission to protect a very special 15 year old girl who harbors power greater then any on Earth. If protected, she will fight for everything that is good and pure! She will play an important role in the fight of light versus darkness!! David and Beka are instantly drawn to eachother when they meet. But as they soon find out thier attraction and love for eachother seems to be impossible. Forbidden. I did not want to put this book down!!! I could feel David's struggle to keep his demon at bay when it so ferociously wanted to take over! I could feel his angst of wanting something so badly and having it just out of reach. His and Beka's turmoil will pull at your heartstrings and keep you at the edge of your seat!! Buckle up!!! This is one hell of a ride!!!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Wasteland is stunning in both characterization and action packed storyline. When the story opens, I immediately sympathized with David, a half-demon forced to obey his master after his mother signed a blood contract before he was born. Will he give into his demon side or fight the sexual urges for a forbidden, beautiful Guardian, Rebeka. The snarky, formal dialogue of a four hundred year old half-human was believable and engaging.
Long after I finished reading Wasteland, the characters still haunted me. This book is full of hot, sensual scenes, suspense, adventure, and forbidden love. Settle in before you pick up this book because you won't put it down until the very end.
