Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Dori Butler
Mouse is scared. Big Bro is coming! Big Bro is rough and tough and really big, he tells Frog. Then he scampers off to hide. Now Frog is scared. He goes to warn Parrot about Big Bro. Parrot warns Chimpanzee. Chimpanzee warns Elephant. Soon they are all hiding. And waiting. What will happen when Big Bro finally shows up? This delightful story proves that "big" is in the eye of the beholder. Preschoolers will laugh out loud at the illustrations. And because the story is short and lends itself well to dramatizing, parents aren't likely to mind reading this book over and over.
School Library Journal
PreSWord is out that rough, tough Big Bro is coming. The news spreads quickly through the jungle, sending all the animals into hiding. Finally, brave mouse volunteers to creep out and have a look, returning with the warning that he is indeed coming! When tiny mouse's older sibling appears, all the animals are humiliated. Nevertheless, the "Boo" that Big Bro roars manages to startle them all, and they concede to little mouse that he is indeed rough and tough. Large pages and big, bright illustrations in watercolor and ink make this humorous story a good read-aloud for storyhours.Sally R. Dow, Ossining Public Library, NY
