Overview

People who preyed on those weaker and more defenseless than themselves deserved whatever punishment was thrown at them.

That thought drove Dr. Georgia Dennis in every decision she made, personal and professional. A profiler with the Complex Crimes Unit of the FBI, she was tired of being second-guessed by her boss Michael “Hell” Hellbrook.

Once they caught the sociopath responsible for stoning teenaged girls, she was gone from Hellbrook’s team faster than the ink could dry on the transfer papers.

Georgia and Hellbrook are hot on the trail of a sadistic killer targeting women and girls with brown hair and brown eyes—women with a striking resemblance to Georgia.

Hellbrook will do anything to protect his team, even the woman he never wanted on it in the first place. By keeping her at his side, he grows closer to her until the flame between them erupts and consumes them both.

As they get deeper involved with the case and with each other, they do not realize someone else is watching, someone whose descent into madness threatens everyone around them.

Is this watcher their killer, or someone much closer?

Meet the Author

Who is Calle Jaye Brookes? Calle Jay is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”). Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish? In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them! Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too. She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires. She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too. They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.

Excellent plot and characters. Too much emphasis on the romance and sexual relationship. Story is strong enough without it. Relationship between Hellbrook and Georgia is not believable. Neither would ever act that way and jeopardize their careers. Especially Hell. How can he have the respect of his men when he is acting like a horny teenager in front of them with a subordinare? Their higher-ups would have sent them to different assignments and different locations. Storyline is solid. No need to make it trite with excssive sex.

Really good book. Mystery, romance, implied sex.....you get to use your own imagination. The author writes for intelligent readers. I will definitely read all of this fine authors books!

The story is interesting, however it is disturbing to read that the women are very small and the men are "giants". I see this in other books and it is creepy.

297 pages, paid $2.99. I had never read any thing by Callie Brook before and was very interested in trying her. I was not disappointed. The book was a very nice length and the editing, grammer and punctuation were well done. There was some sex, no cursing, or religion, at least six serial murders and quite a bit of other violence, one part of the book confused me, the victim was said to be male, but it was constantly refered to as female. I know dead is dead, but the killer only went after females, yet here was a male victim..... Transgender perhaps? There are several complaints I have about this book, one is all the perfect women, all tiny, ultra petite, gorgeous, perfectly formed, with alluring voices, eyes and demeaner, they must be protected and cherished, by all men and all are always getting hurt or victimized in some way. Another is EVERYONE has lost their significent other(s) and or parents to violence or terrible accidental deaths. Whodunit was very interesting and whydunit not so much, howdunit was unique, which was nice. There is an excerpt af rhe next book in this series at the conclusion. If the women had been less Stafford Wives and more human and the characters less divas and casuality prone, this would have been a five star book. For chicks and roosters, ages 18 and up, due to sex and violence. Genre: police mystery. AD

....the multiple errors in grammar were distracting. Plus, it would have been nice if Georgia and Hell had thanked the many other agents who had helped save Georgia's life. They all were an integral part of the team, and teamwork is what it was all about.....not just a love story.

Good storyline, interesting characters, only problem is office affairs especially at their level don't play out so much in public. I will be reading the next book though.
