Overview

Andrea Sedaris has a love for reading and analyzing good books. She also suffers from a highly eccentric personality and a distorted view of the world. The slanted perspective she uses to scrutinize great works of literature is not her fault. In 1993, a doctor informed her that she suffers from several mental complications, including borderline personality disorder, bi-polar disorder, social anxiety disorder and ADHD. Her doctors have determined that in addition to the prescribed medications Seroquel, Concerta, and Xanax, writing would provide her with a healthy outlet for the curious thought-formations she so eagerly sets free from her mouth. Writing thus gives her the chance to be alone with her thoughts, while allowing her doctors and loved ones just enough quiet to look after her.

Though Andrea’s writing tends to form a somewhat twisted analysis of the books she reads, she is not without talent. Before her diagnosis, Andrea completed her master’s degree in English Literature—with distinction. She frequently uses literary terms and draws on prior works of literature to get her points across, although on many other occasions she makes references to things that only she seems to know about. It is also possible that in the course of writing her analysis, Andrea may forget about what she is writing while she is still writing it. Please bear with her. Her confidence is fragile, to say the least. And who knows: You might actually learn a thing or two. She’s full of surprises.

Her dream is to become a famous hybrid literary critic/theorist.
