Celeste always dreamed of marrying for love, but the nightmare of living in her father’s home drives her to wed the Duke of Hudson. Yet on her wedding eve, she is compelled to follow a mysterious man who professes to know her secret. A man with curious blue scales on his muscular arms—whose shadowed eyes reflect a dangerous mix of destiny and desire…

Ok, so think witch doctor meets vampire meets dragon- all wrappe

Ok, so think witch doctor meets vampire meets dragon- all wrapped up in an extremely HAWT tall guy… It’s just awesome! I love the way little magics began happening and it made the story so much fun! And what a way to play into adultery!! It makes ya think, what if you really did marry the wrong dude… AND… I’m normally not a big fan on historical type stories, but I really enjoyed it. I’ll chalk it up to me expanding my pleasure of reading good stories

I’m gunna talk about Jordan, in like one second, but I think Madoc is going to be my dragon book boyfriend… You on with that ladies? Oh well if you aren’t hahahaha!! Ok so back to Jordan. He’s normally the sensible one, but lets just say figuring out he found his mate made him a little crazy. And with reason, as the man keeping him from his mate is hiding some bad secrets as well. Jordan is strong, powerful as he’s gaining powers, and though at times Cave man like, he’s still sweet in his own way. Sometimes you forget how different that time period was, as I probably woulda slapped him after I kneed his groin for scaring me in the bathroom scene hahahaha you gotta read it to know

Celeste has kinda had it rough… Her father should be beaten til death, her husband needs a swift kick to his behind and I absolutely love her maw! That little old lady is totally awesome! That’ll be me in 50 years lol but Celeste grows and faces fears and finds love and gets almost killed and then to top it off figures out she’s the mate to a dragon shifter! Ummm I’ll take it  she’s timid because that’s expected in that time but she has a very strong backbone in her mind. She politely smiles and acts proper while thinking truth in her mind. I enjoyed her!

I’m looking forward to more stories, especially of more brothers, from this author. As the beginning, I think some more answers will come to light in the future. And I especially liked how they became what they are and the curse! And Carmen  I think it’ll be an even more fun ride on the next stop!  I’m excited for more! 4.5 SMOKIN HAWT PAWS FROM ME!!

Waterfall is the first book in the new Dragon's Fate series by

Waterfall is the first book in the new Dragon's Fate series by Lacy Danes. Jordan and his brothers are part dragon, though they are cursed to stay in human form. They have been losing their powers, and their only hope is to find their destined mates – which they have been waiting years for. To see if a woman is their mate, they must bite her. If she lives, she is their mate – all others die.

Jordan finds Celeste, who is dying after being injured in a shipwreck. To end her suffering, he bites her. A few days later, he finds out that she has lived and is married to the Duke of Hudson. Once they meet, they feel an undeniable connection. Jordan must convince her that she is married to the wrong man, and that she is his mate.

The story is set in the 17th century in London. It has more erotic content than I am used to reading in a historical romance. The sex scenes are pretty descriptive and steamy. Jordan and Celeste's sexual relationship happened rather quickly though. I like for there to be more build up, but it's understandable considering the short length of the story. With novellas, there's not a whole lot of time to get to know the characters and find out more on their background. There are quite a few different words used to describe the man and woman parts during the sex scenes. I was a bit distracted at the changing of terms, and found myself laughing out loud at one of the descriptions (which isn't exactly a good thing when reading steamy, passionate love making).

The whole story has a mysterious feel to it. There's a lot of unexplained things going on – things that never do get explained. The plot is interesting, just a bit rushed. Overall, it's an enjoyable book. If you're looking for a mixture of historical, paranormal, and erotic – then this is the book for you!

    3.5/5 Stars.

Being a huge fan of the paranormal genre I'm always excited when I come across a book/series that features Dragons that are also hot guys in their human form.

For only being a novella this sure does give you a lot of story for the shortness of it, four brothers, the only four Zir (Dragons) in existence who were created after Carmen a Vampire sprinkled their eggs with her blood and a little magic.

Unfortunately they don't know much at all about their heritage or who they really are, one thing that they do know is to find their mates (which will eventually reveal all of things that have been kept from them), to find them means to bite them, unfortunately they can never be too sure that the person they're biting is for them and their bite is venomous to whomever is not their mate, so over the years they've killed a few women.

Jordan who's element is the water comes across a shipwreck and the lone surviver Celeste is dying, so to put her out of her misery he bites her so as not to prolong her death and leaves her there to die, and then a few days later Jordan and his brothers attend their friends Wedding Party and discover that his Bride is none other than Celeste, which means through her survival after the bite that she's Jordan's mate, but what to do when she's married to a really good friend, especially when said friend seems like he's losing his mind!

I'd be interested to read the other three brothers stories and see how they meet their mates.

    Intriguing Premise With Likable Characters

There's a lot happening in Lacy Dane's novella, Waterfall, in such a short span of time that it's hard to keep up with all the characters and action going on between the pages. What starts out as an intriguing paranormal premise soon evolves into a mish-mash of frantic events that don't blend cohesively and cause the love story to get lost along the way.

Four brothers who carry paranormal abilities based on the elements but also have traits of a vampire and dragon are desperate to find their mates who can help them gain back their weakening abilities have to band together when the youngest, Jordan, unexpectedly finds his mate who's just married another. The path to their HEA isn't an easy one though as a dark force uses someone they consider a friend to cause the first step in bringing the brothers down. Each of the brothers is sexy and commanding and while we get a good idea as to Jordan's abilities, the other's aren't quite as clear. One of them is particularly a mystery and shows up for a brief moment late in the story. Their interactions are contentious as some of them are more arrogant than the others but there's still something about each of them that's irresistable. Jordan's mate Celeste ran hot and cold for me. Sometimes I liked her for her spunkiness and easy acceptance of the changes going on around but then she would do something feather-brained and become annoying. Ultimately, she won me over as it's she who saves the day.

The few sexual encounters in the story are hot, with the first being particularly creative. The action scenes actually outnumber the bedroom scenes with the reasons behind them not always clear or necessary. The big bad and his purpose is another thing unclear as is the future of two characters who undergo dramatic physical changes within the last few pages, one of those character's changes seemed particularly over-the-top and out of the blue.

Overall, this was an enjoyable story with a very unique premise. The characters seemed well suited and interacted in entertaining ways. While there was too much going on in too short of a space that led to confusion and a schizophrenic feel the creativeness still won me over and has me greatly anticipating the next book in this story.

An original concept set in the rich atmosphere of Victorian era

An original concept set in the rich atmosphere of Victorian era England, based on hot men with dragon's blood in their veins, how could I resist? I loved the whole idea behind the premise. The writing is compelling, the characters are interesting, and the sex is smoking hot.

That said, it had a few issues that kept it at only three and a half flames for me. The writing was choppy and confusing in the beginning, forcing me to re-read sentences. I would have liked to have seen either less characters, or the characters that are in it to be developed deeper. There are a few too many that have very little to do with the plot, though I imagine this novella may be a setup for a future full length novel set in the same world. That said, I liked it enough that I would read another novel set in this world. I would recommend it for readers who enjoy fantasy and erotica.

Under absolutely no control of the author, and therefore not her fault at all (poor thing), the novel was formatted horribly and could have used tighter editing. Shame on the publisher. Good formatting isn't hard these days. The flames earned are in no way effected by the formatting issue.
