Last year's release was a phenomenal success, far beyond anything Ben and I ever had imagined. Special thanks for the book's success goes to Yon Lambert and the Palmetto Conservation Organization for making this dream a reality. We hope you enjoy this year's release as much as you did last year's. The pictures and directions are improved, the text includes GPS waypoints, and we've added a few falls.
By far, the best book written about waterfalls in South Carolina. The photography is beautiful and the directions to the falls are clearly written. A wonderful book!
This is by far the best resource for people interested in waterfalls in the 'upstate' region of South Carolina. All of the falls listed are relatively easy to access. Each fall would make a great day hike for an individual or even a group. The authors also provide beautiful color photographs of each of the falls and also offer tips for hikers who would like to take their own pictures of the falls. The directions are easy to follow, and the maps are detailed enough for even the most directionally-challenged folks. I really liked that the guide is paperback, so it will easily fit in a backpack or a back pocket. If you're planning a trip to South Carolina or even north Georgia or western North Carolina, buy this book because you'll be just a couple of hours away from some of the nicest falls in the Southeast!
South Carolina is one of the most beautiful states in the nation. Much has been written about its low country and coast, but this is one of the first books to accurately document its mountain region, specifically its waterfalls. Hikers will enjoy the book's soft cover format, allowing for easy transport via backpack. Packed with maps, photographs, directions, photography tips, and descriptions of the regions flora and wildlife, this book is my favorite.
Brooks and Cook have produced a truly great publication that avid hikers in the Carolinas and Georgia will greatly appreciate. The photography is beautiful and the directions simple, but accurate. A must buy for anyone interested in hiking in the Palmetto State.
