All Music Guide - James Christopher Monger
Recorded in Los Angeles and Rome under the watch of Grammy-winning co-producer Humberto Gatica and Tony Renis, the second studio album from dreamy teenage tenors Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble, better known as Il Volo, begins appropriately with a sweeping rendition of the Dianne Warren/Aerosmith power ballad "Questo Amore [I Don't Want to Miss a Thing]," dutifully extending the already lengthy 21st century bridge between commercial pop and classical. The trio, which first turned heads on the popular Italian talent show Ti Lascio una Canzone, brings an excitable, youthful bravado to the 12-track We Are Love's more pop-oriented offerings ...

The trio, which first turned heads on the popular Italian talent show Ti Lascio una Canzone, brings an excitable, youthful bravado to the 12-track We Are Love's more pop-oriented offerings like Warren's newly written "I Bring You to My Senses," U2's "Beautiful Day," and the Mark Portmann-penned title cut, the latter two of which are the only songs sung in English. The more traditional, operatic/classically minded pieces, while seamless, soaring, and impossibly pretty in all the right places, lack the gravitas to truly make the listener swoon, a notion that's lent further weight when the great Placido Domingo steps in halfway through "Il Canto" and effectively steals the show.

I, like everyone who has listened to these magnificent young sin

I, like everyone who has listened to these magnificent young singers are in awe of what they can do with their voices.
I play piano and therefore have studied music for many years and so I am in a position to judge their abilities and the kind of music they sing. Their first album was astounding, and it showed their voices to great advantage, they seemed to instill great passion into every one of the songs they sang. However, I have to say that I was a little disappointed when I got their second album and their special edition. I felt their voices were not showcase in the same way they did in the first album. Piero has an incredibly strong, lyrical voice that can reach very high notes and sustain them and this album has no songs that can show his prowess. The songs adapt better to Gianluca's baritone voice but does not do justice to Ignazio's powerful tenor.
They are beautiful songs but some of them seemed way too pop for their voices and too simple for their vocal range. I do not know whether they chose their songs or their managers do but there are certainly an incredible amount of songs they can chose from and totally shine. The songs in the We are Love album with a few exceptions are very low key and do not convey the passion that they expressed in the songs of their first album. I loved them anyway and will buy anything that they record, I get great pleasure listening to their voices and hope that their next album includes more of those classical pieces they sing so well. They are lovely, down to earth and humble young men and deserve all the glory they can get.

I am writing this review because I want to share with prospectiv

I am writing this review because I want to share with prospective buyers true facts about We Are Love Special Edition.  I would not want anyone to miss out on hearing this magical music because they were mislead as to its contents.  Along with everything else Il Volo has ever released, I have the We Are Love Special Edition CD.  And, like everything else they have ever produced, this latest release takes listeners to heaven via his/her ears! The We Are Love Special Edition CD includes EIGHT(8) songs sung in English. Along with many of the songs in the *original* We Are Love release (3 of which are sung in English), the Special Edition includes 5 new songs (all in English).  The Special Edition includes the new material Il Volo did at their concert in Miami Beach this past March, produced by PBS, to be aired multiple times around the country beginning June 1.

Il Volo does NOT sing opera, nor do they purport to be be opera singers.  They are, in fact, an operatic pop group.  Their voices are incredible individually, but together the sound that they create is pure magic!  Maestro Placido Domingo CHOSE to sing with Il Volo, because he recognizes their amazing gift.  Do yourself a favor and get your hands on this CD as soon as possible.  You will not be disappointed.

Every Song on this CD is fantastic. These young men are far better then the old regime, like Placido Domingo, and are likely to change the old style Itialian Opera to what they call, Pop Opera. While each singer is great in his own right, what makes them special, is the 3 of them singing together. They are destine to be the Beatles of Itialian Opera.
I also like Piero Barone's Red Glasses, which I think have become his signiture, like Elton Johns. Check out their Videos on YouTube, and you will buy this album.

I need to tell the world what I think about James Christopher Mo

I need to tell the world what I think about James Christopher Monger's nonsense "lack the gravitas to truly make the listener swoon". We can't know what makes Mr. Monger swoon, nor do we need to care. We know Mr. Barone, Mr. Ginoble, Mr. Boschetto are gifted singers who study and work hard on their craft, their songs are meaningful for millions of listeners in many languages of many countries. No greater message can one have than "We Are Love" calling for common connection and compassion.

I preordered the Special Edition of We are Love through B&N.

I preordered the Special Edition of We are Love through B&N. As soon as I read that they were releasing this edition with five new songs, I went to the first website I thought of and immediately preordered. Each of the five new songs showcase the boys' undeniable vocal talent, pure emotion, and raw talent that you don't hear every day. Surrender (Torna a Surriento) is a favorite of mine though each song is just fantastic! I loved this new album very much! Gianluca, Piero, and Ignazio, keep the great songs coming!

Well, I have to be the first to say that IL VOLO is absolutely wonderful in every way. I disagree completely with James Christopher Monger review where he says that Il Volo "lacks the gravitas to truly make the listener swoon." You are so wrong! Il Volo has a huge following of fans of every age. They are so humble and treat their fans with the utmost respect. Every one should get their albums and watch their concert on PBS on June !st. I promise you will fall in love with them! TEAM IL VOLO!!!

This cd is a must have! These guys are fantastic individually, but the magic that is created when they combine their voices is incredible. They don't profess to be opera singers. They want to sing operatic pop - and they do it magnificently. You can play this music and get lost in the purity and beauty of it. Don't miss out on this wonderful experience!

Outstanding voices are complemented by equally impressive orchestral accompaniment. I first saw the group on a PBS concert in June 2013 and this album is every bit as good as the concert video.

I LOVE these boys and their beautiful magical music.  In my opinion that could make any song sound good!  On a side note I can't believe how much they are growing up.  When you look at their pictures from their first CD to this CD their looks are really changing from young boys to young men.  They're beautiful to me no matter what.  I hope they will always remain together as a group and stay friends for life!

I highly recommend this album! This is not an Opera music Album.

I highly recommend this album! This is not an Opera music Album. It is 3  super talented young men whoare classically trained, singing pop music in their way!  I believe they hold their own very well with Placido Domingo!
Gianluca is an amazing baratone, Piero is a strong tenor and Ignazio is a powerful lyrical tenor! When they sing harmony together it makes my heart sing. I love their music and listen to  them every day!

Every time I see them I'm awed by the voices coming out of the mouths of these young men. Surrender makes me ooo and ahhh like a teen girl (I'm 59). In this age of Bieber it's really nice to see youth with God given talent and humility .. x's 3. I pray they stay together and continue to make the world happy w/ their angelic voices. The album is superb!!!!!
