Editorial Reviews

Corpus Christi Caller-Times
An excellent exploration of U.S. Navy bombing squadrons. His sentiments, which are central to his writing's straightforward elegance and his mastery of a mountain of detail, are eloquently encapsulated in his forward and perfectly explain the power of this exceptional work. Carey doesn't just list squadrons but rather gives life to the men who comprised them. He paints a vivid portrait of tremendous night attacks and endless patrols over forbidding stretches of ocean, of bombing runs at dawn and breathtaking air battles as warships explode far below, of fiery crashes and unexplained disappearances.

The First Book on U.S. Navy B-24 Squadrons

Over half a century after the end of World War II, the first book on Navy squadrons that flew the B-24 Liberator has been written. This is a wonderful story and is a tribute to U.S. Navy veterans that served in World War II. Mr. Carey uses first-hand accounts to give the reader a sense of what those men went through day after day and includes many photographs of the men, the missions, and the aircraft they flew. Additionally, the author made it a point to include the names and rank of the men that did not return. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.
