Released by the Friday Music label in 2013, this disc combines Al Jarreau's first and second albums for Reprise: We Got By (1975) and Glow (1976). In the U.S., the albums' previous CD incarnations were released during the late '80s, so the recordings were long overdue for an upgrade. Both sets are among Jarreau's most satisfying output, though they didn't fare as well commercially as many of his later albums. (We Got By narrowly missed the Billboard 200, while Glow, which hit the jazz chart, reached number 132 on 200.) For anyone whose interest in the singer is at least moderate, this is a must-own, apparently pressed in a small quantity....
