A nice read-aloud for the beginning of the school year as youngsters describe some of their favorite kindergarten activities. "We like our garden./We like our pet./We like saying the alphabet." Other activities include making and displaying artwork, having a snack, dressing up to play, sharing a book with a classmate, and taking a little rest. Soft, rainbow watercolor washes with pen and ink are perfect for the especially cute students-kittens, puppies, bunnies, etc. The teacher is a cheery fox. This simple book will be a big hit. Pair it with Jessica Harper's A Place Called Kindergarten (Putnam, 2006) for a thematic storyhour.
