I have a copy that was my mother, and she was introduced to this book from her grandmother. The book is the actual life of a woman living in the Maine woods in the 1930's. It is not a back to the land story, but a story of living life the best you can. A wonderful excersion back in time that lets us look into the daily life of ordinary folks. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting a book they will pick up more then once, to enjoy the lightness of life in a time when the combustion engine was the newest fad.
