    Just plain fun!

Rich is fun to read and tells a great story about her and her family's life in the Maine woods. She makes the day to day events fascinating and leaving the reader wanting more. Fortunately, she wrote several books - read them all!

    Family Favorite

My mother gave me a copy that her and her great aunt read every summer when my mom was a child.
Louise Dickinson Rich's life is an interesting story, sprinkled with humor and is also a historical account of a slice of Maine life in the 30's.
I would recommend to anyone to try this book.
Each chapter lets you drift back in time and spend a few days wandering through the life in a simpler time.

    We Took to the Woods

I just finished this book and it was wonderful. I love this kind of story and this book did not disappoint. All the descriptions of her daily activites and the things that they go through living where they do are so interesting. You forget the time period because, in living way off like they do, these things could be going on in 2010. I like this because she talks alot about the Outside - does it really matter what is going on, trivially, if you really don't even need to deal with it?
