We Were Soldiers [Original Motion Picture Score] based on 0 ratings. 10 reviews.
It's mostly country, which I'm not a big fan of, but it's ''light'' country, that can also be appealing to pop fans.
This movie was the best movie I have seen in a long time...it quickly became my all time favorite and the score has a lot to do with it. I believe music is key to the emotion one feels from watching a film. This definitely did it for me!
I had one major and one minor disappointment with this 'soundtrack' album. The major disappointment is it does not include the pulse pounding Irish drum set from the "Broken Arrow" sequence. The minor disappointment is the only two tracks on the album actually from the movie are presented last. Otherwise it's not bad, although a bit more 'countryish' than I personally care for.
I bought the CD specifically for "Sgt. McKenzie" since I'm a former bagpiper and love haunting tunes; I listen to this track over and over! "For You" is another absolutely moving song, sung by Johnny Cash and Dave Matthews. My other favorite is "The Beautiful" by Five for Fighting. Some of the other songs are just OK for me; I typically skip through to my favorites.
...How does a fella like me, who was a Witness to the Heroism of so many in the -Valley of Death- that was the IA DRANG of 1965, thank Music Composer ..NICK GLENNIE-SMITH.. for his ..''WE WERE SOLDIERS''.. Soundtrack Score that now feels like Theme Music to my Life...? ...His luscious strings, plesantly thundering drums and inspiring solos and choirs put me right back at the 1st Major Battle of the Vietnam War ..and soothes me now. This is a HEALING. ...Movie Director ..RANDALL WALLACE.. has said that his outstanding film ..''WE WERE SOLDIERS'.. was meant to honor and heal America's Hero Vietnam Vets. ..GLENNIE-SMITH's.. Music quietly comes up on ya ..and captures your heart. ..My favorite Film Score has always been ..JOHN BARRY's.. lushly romantic ..''SOMEWHERE IN TIME'' ..with JANE SEYMOUR -&- CHRISTOPHER REEVE. ..''WE WERE SOLDIERS''.. is a Perfect Match. ...Thank you ..NICK..!!! ...Signed:..-ALOHA RONNIE- Guyer / U.S. 7th Cavalry / Vet-Battle of IA DRANG-1965 / Landing Zone Falcon
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Again here I agree with previous reviews that the score is what add the additional qualities to the movie. The music is absolutely beautiful. Is there a website or a place where a person can view the score of the various pieces performed in this movie? It would be much appreciated if you can respond.
Completely moves me every time I listen to this. There isn't a bad track on it. It's sad, hopeful, inspiring, humbling...beautiful.
Utterly amazing best that should make us proud that these are our fellow Americans.
