Victory over pornography, like victory over any other addiction is a day to day process. As a Clinical Psychologist, I have found myself working with many individuals suffering from addictions and family dysfunction. In my nine years of professional experience of reading clinical textbooks, self-help books, and attending professional conferences and workshops, I have not come across a more real and sincere dictation of the suffering, struggle, and triumph as I have found in this book. From my professional experience and observations, recovery is a long and difficult process, but thankfully, one that is possible. A few principles from this book that I found especially inspiring are as follows: Healing cannot take place where hate resides; It is easy to misinterpret our real needs; We respond out of habit to certain situations or feelings; Look for unhealthy patterns in our lives; Learn to recognize certain feelings or situations as signs foreshadowing relapse; Verbalize your weakness and enact a plan of action by which we offset our incendiary weakness; Constantly be in a state of improvement. In sum, whether you are a medical professional or patient, husband or wife, spiritual advisor or pedestrian, this book will provide answers for those you seek help.

This book, We Will End the Conflict Now: Victory and Healing from a Recovered Addict and His Wife,   has the power to change lives. Whether you're currently struggling with an addiction, or know someone who is, I believe that if a reader, struggling with an addiction, approaches this book with an honest desire to change, the principles within its pages have the power to change lives. (Yes, even yours if you're struggling.) It's not a quick fix book promising, "read this then you're cured." It is a book that teaches true principles, that when lived, will lead to success. I'm personally years into my recovery, but I wish this book was written 20 years ago as it would've been a great help to me in my journey of recovery. As I read this book I felt like I was there, with the authors, feeling their pain with them. I felt like I was reading my own story. Since finishing it, I've shared this book with a friend who has struggled with pornography addiction for years, and he's reading it. He reports that the book has been uncomfortable and hard for him to read at times, however I believe this is because it's causing him to face some unpleasant realities he has been unwilling to recognize in the past. I trust that if he continues, finishes the book, and lives by its principles, he will be blessed with success in his quest to live a life free from pornography.  This book is a tool that can help change the lives of those who are willing to change, replacing darkness with light.

I am so grateful for a book like this, that manages to truly unearth the struggles of pornography from the perspectives of both the husband and wife. There is so much honesty here. It really lets you know, as a reader, that you are not alone and that any struggles and pain you may be feeling because of pornography are validated, and more importantly, that they can be worked through and overcome. Thank you for writing such a brave and powerful book of hope on such a difficult subject!

Honestly, I've tried a couple books before and they did not work for me. Or maybe I just wasn't ready, I don't know. But as the wife of a recovering addict, this book got us talking. We've spent a lot of money with counselors, and we still will because it's valuable, but i can't say enough how refreshing and empowering it is to read a book about this problem from the perspective of a man and woman who have been there.
