great-but be warned-this came out in an anothology years ago

I did buy this and then realized that I owned the book of short stories it was in... I was just sooo desperate for a new story in this series! so I re read Cordelia's Honor for like the 10th time and my favorites of the Miles stories. If you love this and haven't read the series You're in for a real treat..There must be a bit of Miles in all of us about something. science fiction as it has space ships, but more about people and peoples perceptions of people and it's funny, and Miles at less than 5ft proving to himself and the rest of his culture that 'size does not matter".

Very good story, very good characterization

First: note that this novella is also available as the first section of the excellent novel-length work, "The Vor Game." (I hope "The Vor Game" will be available for the Nook soon.) This is a good story of Miles Vorkosigan's first assignment upon graduating from the military academy. Miles is very, very bright, but his body is partially crippled from a pre-birth poison gas attack on his parents. He has to overcome his birth defects in the military and in a society that hates any mutation. Watching Miles struggle and sometimes win against the odds makes the Vorkosigan series of books fantastic. This novella will give you a good start on the series and it's great as a stand-alone story. Strongly recommended. I think this book is good for adults through early teens. I've read everything by this author over and over - she is, currently, my favorite author.
