Jamie Purviance graduated from Stanford University and the Culinary Institute of America before launching his career as a food writer for major magazines and newspapers such as Bon Appétit, Better Homes & Gardens, Cooking Light, Fine Cooking, Town & Country, and the Los Angeles Times. He is the author of several best-selling cookbooks, including Weber’s Real Grilling™ and Weber’s Charcoal Grilling™. Purviance is certified by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and serves as a judge for the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, in addition to other major competitions. I can't say enough about this cookbook. After buying a new and rather expensive grill, I decided I had better learn how to really grill food properly as opposed to just throwing it on and hoping for the best (which in my case meant it was usually overdone). After looking through many cookbooks, I knew this one was for me, as it really started at the very beginning. Even the info on how to make a great burger has been a winner - my kids have raved about my burgers ever since. I have made a number of things from this volume, including chicken with soy-ginger glaze (yum!) and spareribs with sweet-and-sour barbecue sauce, and even a smoked turkey. These are all things I wouldn't have tried before and they came out beautifully with the help of this step-by-step cookbook. Because I liked it so much, I got my dad a copy for Father's Day. Hopefully he's enjoying it as much as I am.

The book is deailed in its approach to grilling, a benefit to those not familiar with the terms and procedures used. However, it contains a large number and wide variety of recipes which make it a valuable tool for the more frequent grill user. The illustrations are both good-looking and useful.

Recipes are clear and precise. Most use the ingredients that any good cook has in the pantry. Not only for Weber grills either,

I am definitely not a grilling type of gal, but have found this book extremely easy to use and when I attempt to grill, things actually turn out... Things are explained well and I have yet to find a recipe that I don't like out of this book.

My husband and I love to grill. Well really me more than him, but this cook book got him excitied to try new things on the grill. Anything that can motivate him to grill so I can focus on the rest of the meal preperation scores high in my book.

This is a great book for beginner grillers like myself. The step by step instructions are accompanied by informative pictures which are great for learning to grill. Also has great intro to basics of grilling, tools, types of grills, etc.

I LOVE The Weber line of grills, particularly the non gas one's that you use charcoal and wood chips in. I once tried a butterflied Turkey, fresh with banked coals on each side of an 18-1/2" grill with drip pan in center. No marinating, just a bit of fresh sqeesed limed juice, salt & pepper! It cooked up perfectly moist in under 2 hours. Needless to say, I've been a fan of Weber recipes ever since!!! I trust their recipes, no matter what type of grill you have. You can always adjust the cooking times or ways to fit your very own grill, just using your own common sense!! Get this book and any others that Weber puts out, if you want an inhanced grilling experience!!! Great tip and tools, the best food combo's, as well! YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS BOOK!!
