This is the best Japanese/English-English/Japanese dictionary I've seen in a long time. In the beginning, it gives some background on kanji, katakana, and hiragana, and also includes hiragana and katakana lists, which I've found very useful. It has just about every word you can think of (minus slang, folks), and by the definition there is, of course, the word written in kanji, hiragana, and katakana. It's pretty small, but the text on the pages are big enough for almost anyone to read. It makes a great travel companion.

This book is only for students of the Japanese language. I it exhaustive in it approach and full of terminologies. This book is not for the beginning student.
