It has been prophesied that four men, raised as brothers, will bring Scotland back to her rightful glory. Now the final brother is ready to take his place in history . . .

"Trey MacAlpin is my husband.” When Bliss first speaks these words, they are not yet true. But desperate for protection from the false king's soldiers, she claims the Highlander as her mate. Her powers foretold that her life would intertwine with the four men who protect the identity of the true king—but she never thought it would be like this!

Trey MacAlpin can scarcely believe he has agreed to wed a stranger. But this beautiful lass knows the secret he and his brothers are sworn to keep, making her both valuable . . .and vulnerable. Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
A medieval princess determined to avenge her father's death and the nobleman she blames are caught up in a fiery battle of wills in this vintage captive-in-love-with-captor tale first published by Avon in 1993. Two stubborn, strong-willed protagonists fight and misunderstand each other until the bitter end in this period piece that, while definitely a historical of the early 1990s, will be welcomed by James's many fans.

Meet the Author

Part of the fun in writing, Donna Fletcher admits, is doing the research. But it is with her characters that she has the most fun. She loves giving life to fresh characters and feels their excitement as they face the pleasures and pitfalls of falling in love.

Donna's own adventures have taken her to England, Ireland, and Scotland. She has walked the fields where battles were fought centuries ago, toured haunted castles, stood where beheadings were commonplace, explored the mystic mounds of long ago, and collected a plethora of memories and research that will live long in her heart and mind. She also loves exploring and photographing old abandoned homes, and she often takes long walks in the woods with camera in hand. She feels her life is rich and full, having three terrific sons, two fantastic daughters-in-law, an endless supply of friends, a loving dog, and a crazy, black, one-eyed cat named Bear.

This book is wonderful. it continues and finishes the story of the McAlpine clan and will have you laughing, mostly at the mother because she is the ultimate mom and nothing gets passed her-but she loves to see everyone try. Brings the series to a great end. LOVE IT!

    ROMANTIC READ

This book is much shorter than the previous books and I would have liked to had more but what I got was worth it. The relationship between Finn and his lovely lady is so romantic. He is like a rock star of the 1500s and has girls falling at his feet to hear his beautiful songs and poems. But when he is by the girl he truly loves, he gets all tongue tied. It is an intense but cute story. Well worth the reading. Donna Fletcher never disappoints me.

    quick end to a series

Disappointed when the saga was ended with a confusing few pages of explaination. The true king was reveled but the way it was done was rushed and short on explaining why. The other three books were much better and lead me to expect more from Dona fletcher.
