Overview

While the details of a wedding depend on personal taste, the universal act of marriage represents an emotional and ideological union between two people. This common rite of passage is celebrated throughout the world by every culture and reflects not only the goals and dreams of two individuals but also the hopes and futures of entire families, even whole societies.

This stunning collaboration between author Rebecca Buffum Taylor and photographer Joe Buissink, with inspiring quotes from well-known writers such as Rumi, E.E. Cummings, and Rainier Maria Rilke, celebrates the beauty and individuality of weddings. From a playful image of a child stealing a taste of wedding cake to an elegant bride opening the doors literally and figuratively to her future, Nuptials succinctly captures the intimate expressions and experiences of individual brides and grooms as well as reveals the universal nature of weddings. Buissink's photography tells the timeless stories of romance, loyalty, love, and familial responsibility-all the while accompanied by evocative poetry that reminds us of the myriad facets that bring two people together for life.

The best gift I could find for my friend who's about to be married. The images in 'Nuptials' are suberb. I would get married just to have Joe shoot my wedding. My friend will be able to utilize every aspect of this box set. I wish more photographers would take this approach to capturing weddings. It essentially guaranties that each wedding that Joe shoots will be different. It is all about the candid moment and the emotion in it.
