Overview

This “Wedding Speeches 6 in 1” includes Wedding Speeches for the Bride, the Groom/Best Man, the Maid/Matron of Honor, the Mother of the Bride/Groom and the Father of the Bride/Groom.

If you’ve been picked as the best man for your friend’s wedding, a lot rides on you. As I said earlier, you could add levity and humor to the atmosphere. You could inject emotion and tear-filled anecdotes. Or you could leave the entire room dry-eyed and bored. So, for the sake of your friend, make sure that your best man’s speech is great. And if you’re a groomsman, be prepared to deliver an amazing toast. If the timing is right, you’ll want to do it; and when you do it, you’ll improve the mood of the entire reception. From here, your path is entirely up to you. However, you should start by selecting a template, altering it to match your personality and speaking habits, and then polishing it up between now and the wedding. Finally, you should always practice your best man’s speech several times before you deliver it. Ideally, you should do this in front of 1-2 willing listeners (perhaps your wife or friends). Whatever you do, make sure that your delivery is smooth and measured by the time the big day arrives. If you do, your friend will be eternally grateful.

There you have it: 10 full speeches you can deliver on your wedding day. It’s now up to you to pick the one that best suits the occasion. For instance, if you’re just planning to “break the ice” for another speaker, then you may want to deliver one of the short speech templates above, modified to fit the situation. To the contrary, if you’re prepared to deliver a full-blown speech, then you should use one of the funny or sentimental templates. If the best man is planning to speak after you or if he spoke directly before, then you may want to avoid the funny speech, since his is also likely to be funny. On the other hand, if you’re speaking before your Dad, then you may want to consider using the funny speech, since his will likely be very sentimental and focus on some charming anecdotes about you. Whatever you do, make sure that you customize the template, so that it fits your situation well. After you do that, rehearse your speech; and you should be ready to go when the time comes.

In this book, we covered a number of different templates you can use when it comes time to give the speech on that big day. It doesn’t matter whether you are giving a speech for the bride or for the groom, you have a good template that you can use to craft a compelling, heart-felt speech or toast for the occasion. It is important to understand, however, that the template in itself is not sufficient. You should use it as a starting point for your own speech. From there, at a minimum, you will need to fill it in with powerful anecdotes (and, of course, with the correct names). You will also want to change the style, so that it matches your speech patters and mood. Finally, the most important thing you must do is practice your speech. As the father of either the bride or the groom, your speech will be highly anticipated; and if you aren’t well-prepared, wedding-goers will notice. So spend some time preparing by rehearsing your speech until you feel comfortable going through it without any notes.

In this book, I have provided you with 9 simple templates for groom’s speeches. Some of them are funny, some of them are sentimental, and some of them are designed for shorter speeches, where you simply break the ice and introduce the next speaker. It’s now time for you to go to work. Pick the template that seems most appropriate for your speech—be it short or long—and customize it how you see fit. If you want to add some anecdotes about your wife or about your family, do it. And if you need to remove some words that don’t quite fit your style, then do that, too. The final product should be something that matches your personality and that you feel comfortable delivering on one of the most important days of your life. Finally, once you have crafted the perfect speech using one of these templates, it is time to put in some practice time. Make sure that you have practiced it multiple times—to the point where you know what’s coming next—before the big day comes. If you think it’s necessary, you may even want to deliver it in front of a close friend.

In this guide, I’ve provided you with templates for all possible bridesmaid and maid of honor toasts. It doesn’t matter whether you are planning something big, formal, and early; or whether you are planning to stand up near the end of the ceremony and informally say something. You now have something for all of these occasions. Before you settle on a template and use it to construct your wedding toast, spend some time figuring...
