    Awful

Don't bother reading this book; the writing was poor, character development awful and there was apparently no research done into the time period this book took place. (For example, the author has clan warring taking place two hundred years after the last historically documented clan war.) It was a disappointing read to say the least. I wanted to like it. It had potential to be a fun book! Sadly, there were too many problems.

    Well written.......Hated it

I don't want to spoil it. So let me just say what Annabelle and James did to Lord Carmichael was wrong --wrong--wrong. In fact in my book it was unforgivable. I didn't think Annabelle was brave and self sacrificing . I thought her selfish and deceitful. She never had any real reason to do the harm she did other then a promise to her trampy sister.. James was a thief and deceitful. He should have been punished as well for betraying his employers trust..several times. And as for her family--they must have laid awake at night figuring out how to screw up Lord Carmichaels life. I did like the writers style though so I would try another of her books. But it's hard to like the book if you hate the main characters.
