Overview

Winner of the Parents' Choice Approved Award for its premiere titles, this new Wee Sing series is designed to teach elementary concepts to young kids through music and song. Each Wee Sing & Learn package contains a full-color thirty-two page book and a twenty minute cassette focusing on a specific concept. Educators have long known that there is no substitute for music when it comes to teaching!

Left and right, up and down, opposites are often challenging concepts for young children. Add some great Wee Sing music though, and kids will have these lessons learned from front to back in no time at all.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Young children explore the world of "opposites" with songs on a cassette and playful illustrations in a soft-cover picture book. Roxy and Randy raccoon are two of the animals that children will meet in a forest full of opposites. Roxy, dressed in pink nightgown, pink slippers and pink stocking cap, has just woken up. And Randy is snoring inside of a log. Bella Bird feeds the baby birds in her full nest, and Betty Bird stands in her empty nest, waving goodbye to her young birds. Bucky Beaver strains and sweats as he labors to carry heavy logs; Becky Beaver's load is as light as a feather. The cassette's catchy tunes will have children singing as they study the words and pictures in the book. The tunes are characterized by repetition to make them easy for young children to learn. This title is one in the publisher's "Wee Sing & Learn" series. 2003, Price Stern Sloan, Ages 2 to 5.

My two year old loves Opposites. I think she'll be interested in this book/CD combo for a long time. The longer she uses it she finds new things in the book to point out. She loves the fun pictures, bright colors, and big letters. The handle on the book makes it easy to carry around. I find myself singing the songs too! :) Highly recommended to use as a fun learning tool.
