    It's a good introduction but not a bible for the perspective patient.

    This book was a good introduction to what the surgery and life style after the surgery is like. I think it was good for helping me to move forward through to surgery, but it definitely is not what a life must look like after surgery. Each of us has his or her own unique experience and so reader beware that this experience might not be your own. Plusses: It's fairly accurate about what you will experience for weight loss; it's absolutley accurate in the thematic statement it makes about wishing we had done this sooner; it's completely accurate that the surgery is a tool and not a cure. Minuses: It makes a reader feel that because the author had a partner who underwent the same process, it might not be as effective for those without a partner; the requirements of each health center that offers a program for this type of weight loss are often different; each person's experience and success is really different, so the book would be much more useful and helpful if it included the data and experiences of others in depth too.
