I don't usually take the time to write reviews or give feedback on products, but if this book you are reading this review trying to decide if this book will be worth the money, let me tell you...this is worth the money ten times over! I went through the 12 week program for Volume I-twice and am on week 7 of Vol II and I AMAZED! This is the magic pill that I have been looking for. I am 33 years old and look better than I did 10 years ago. Volume I really gave me a good foundation on the basics of weight lifting (the hows and the whys). Volume II is more advanced and really challenges you to take it to the next level. I cannot recommend these two books enough. Give them a try. I did notice that there is a money back guarantee if you are not completly satisfied. You can't go wrong!

I went from 167 to 145 in 12 weeks. The workouts were concise and must have worked! I see definition in my arms and legs instead of fat. Starting Volume II today!

This book really gets you into the process in a simple and concise way. I really like the workouts and how detailed the book is (starting weight levels, exercise description, etc.). Also, I really like that you can track your progress so that you don't have to remember exactly what weight you lifted. I look forward to buying the second version!

This booked really helped my workouts. Instead of doing the same circuit training on the machines, I started using dumbbells and barbells. I was a lttle nervous at first but following the book I started seeing results within 2 weeks. Now it's a must have when lifting weights. I recommend it to all my friends!

I found this book to be for the absolute beginner. If you are looking for a good workout plan and have no idea where to start, then this book is for you. But if you are like me, and had a couple of years of weight training but learned through friends, people at the gym or from magazines, then you should look else where. I would recommend Mens Health: Hard Body, for people who fall into my category.

Real workout programs that this 44 year loves. I feel like I have made more progress in the past 5 weeks than I did all year. Plus they only take about 30 minutes to finish. Moving on to the third book after finishing Volume I.

I like the handbook idea (although mine is on my Nook Tablet) so I can take it along and do them right instead of watching the "mirror watchers" do half their exercises incorrectly! The only way it works for them is they are in there so long that something is bound to work but I don't have that kind of time or narcissism and just want a quick, thorough workout at age 70. This does the job and you can't ask for more!

Legible, but fuzzy on the Nook PC app, but not legible on the B&W Nook. Stored images instead of text, so it cannot be enlarged with the preferences option.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I was looking for something that would just motivate me to get into a weight training but for once with a purpose and a plan. I've worked with gym machines and free weights for years but never with a plan so of course results were minimal. I lost a lot of muscle tone over the past year due to a back injury, surgery and recovery period and for a 44 year old female, my body fat is just too high. I've completed 4 of the 12 weeks and love it. The workouts are very doable and progressive yet the time committment doesn't overwhelm. After the 4 weeks, I've increased all my weights in all the exercises and I do see results in my tone if not yet my body fat. So I'm excited to proceed through the next 8 weeks and start getting more familiar with supersets. I'll definitely be moving onto the 2nd book when this one is done. Highly recommend for anyone starting out or starting over.

This book has some great reviews, don't believe them. The book is 75% lined blank pages for you to fill in. Any description is brief as it can get. The short illustration section has such poor photographic quality it looks to be done with a disposable camera and printed on a copy machine.
This book is of little use, even for the absolute beginner. I would not recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I have been following the twelve week workout in this book and we absolutely love it. We have learned so much about weight training. There is no boredom with this workout and you can definetely see results and feel stronger with this program. James has been extremely helpful with any questions I have had. We cannot wait for his new book!

First, just to say how much I enjoyed WTW Vol 1 and the great results I achieved from following the programme. Absolutely excellent - clear, concise and great value for money! Having worked through the Vol1 programme twice as suggested, I eagerly purchased WTW Vol 2 to bring my training up to the next level. Although I have just started I continue to be impressed as this volume continues the same high standards - just tougher - but that's what we want!! Although I preferred the ring binding of Vol1 as it was a much better, gym friendly format, I understand it was changed for production reasons. However, that aside - totally recommended & the best investment you'll make. Bring on Vol 3!

I started my workouts using Mr. Orvis's Weight Training Wokrouts That Work Vol 1. That was a great beginners book, being that I had no experience in working out and really need to learn the basics. This book has stepped up my workouts and my RESULTS. The workouts are very easy to follow and understand. I appreciate that this book was written and explained as if Mr Orvis was right there walking me through each exercise. I highly recommend this book!!!!

A friend of mine was using this at my health club and she let me use it for 4 weeks when she was on vacation. I use to hate the weight room now I can't wait to get in there. In one month I can see definition in my arms and legs. Hopefully in 12 weeks my tummy will be gone! Great book!

This book has really made weight training simple AND effective. I had never touched a weight in my 46 years until 11 weeks ago. Now I wouldn't quite for anything. I feel younger, more energy, my body feels firmer, my friends are noticing and I am down 17 pounds! The book is easy to follow and is in my Gym bag at all times. Thanks James Orvis for writing this book. Can't wait for Volume 2!
