Overview

From Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman, the authors of the bestselling Weird U.S. series, comes something a little different, designed to send shivers down the spine: a book on America’s scariest haunted places. Some of these spirit-filled spots are well known and open to the public, while others are private residences that will have to remain intriguing from a distance: No visits allowed! The stories include firsthand tales that have a powerful “creepiness factor” and believability. The various sites include haunted houses, ghostly graveyards, cursed roads, eerie eateries, spirited saloons, and more. But be warned: This collection of true tales set in actual locations is so chilling that you may not want to read this alone at night!

Weird Hauntings is a collection of various ghost stories and stories of supernatural happenings from across the U.S. It is very simply written with only a page or two about each particular location and/or incident. The veracity of the statements isn't always convincing, but you have the feeling that the author/editor isn't embellishing and is instead simply laying out the facts for the reader to decide for themselves. I would recommend it as a light read on a rainy day or as a coffee table book for those interested in the supernatural.

Like the style, kept me focused on the legends in the U.S. and remember, Deadwood South Dakota has more ghosts per square foot than anywhere in the Northern Great Plains!!!

I love the weird books, and this new one is really good - scary, amazing, funny in parts. Not surprised it's a lot better than any other ghost books I've seen.

I like getting creeped out on occasion and wondering about spirits and the powers that be, and this book satisfies me most. I also recommend Between Shadow & Light.
