Weird N.J. Volume 2: Your Travel Guide to New Jersey's Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets

Love it!

I love this book! Brought it to school one day, and all of the students gathered around me, wanting to read it. My friend pointed at one of the ghost stories listed about a route that was nearby. He said he saw the little ghost boy! We were all amazed. It's pretty much fun if you're bored with friends and want to visit one of these places!

Weird N.J. Volume 2

Being from another state, I had never heard of 'Weird NJ' until I picked up a copy of this book to look through in an airport gift shop. It was so fascinating at first glance that I ordered a copy as soon as I got back home (I would have purchased it right there on the spot, but it is a heavy hardcover book and I didn't want to have to carry it through 3 airports). When I did get to read it in its entirity I was completely astonished and more than just a little creeped out. The stories are incredibly vivid and well told. The photos are haunting and eerily beautiful. The material covers a wide range of subject matter, from the outrageously funny to the downright bone- chillingly scary. I'd recommend this book to anyone, whether they are from NJ or not. I've already ordered a copy of Vol. 1. I just hope that they will publish a Weird Montana someday!

Weird N.J. Volume 2

I am a longtime reader of WNJ so I naturally expected great things from this second volume. But I was truly amazed by this book. As most people know, sequels are usually filled with disappointing leftovers from the previous work. Sometimes though they actually surpass the original in quality (think Godfather 2). This book is a perfect example of that. The stories contained in this edition are more intriquing, and explored in more depth than those found in WNJ 1 (which is still an amazing and incredibly original collection). This book has actually raised the bar of the bizarre!

Fun & Educational

This book Weird NJ which I understand is also published for other states is a great book for both kids and adults. My son is a new driver and armed with this book and a GPS him and a friend were able to explore local sites that were fun but not too far out of the way. It is educational teaching about the town you live in and its history, some of which they were already taught in school so a little familiarity went a long way. It was fun as there are "haunted" houses for them to visit, history buffs would enjoy the war history and yet there is just interesting everyday sites to visit.

Was excited about book, but found it not so interesting

I really liked the first book, and was so excited to get the second book, but upon reading the second book, I found ti really disapointing. These places didn't seem that creepy or scary to me, it just seemed like they were mysteries that had been solved so therefor were no longer interesting

The book has some of the things from the magizines and more it is awsome to go to some of the places and see the things for yourself. It is so great.I am saving to get the second one I hope it is just as good.

its just so... good. What more is there to say? From the Boiardo estate to midgetville, it covers it all.

You'l read it over and over

Great book,I took it on vacation two years in a row to Punta Cana & Florida, never get tired of it

Scary, yet so true.

New Jersey, best known for Oil refineries, Bruce Springsteen, and Great Pizza, also has ghosts and Legends. I thought as a child growing up in Ringwood (Passaic County), that the woods were a scary place full of ghosts gremlins, and assorted other creatures (Satan Worshipers, Neo-Nazi's KKK Members etc). Not only did our woods have these types but everywhere where there are trees, old houses, insane asylums, ponds, lakes, or mysterious stone couches, there lies a mysterious tale. The great thing about this book is the stories that people relate are all so similar, yet slightly different. I loan this to all my friends and family from New Jersey, as well as people who like local fokelore, ghost tales, etc. But the main thing is everything in this book it true. :)

MY DAUGHTER AND I LOVE WEIRD NJ. WE USE THE BOOK AND HIGHLIGHT AND DATE WHEN WE VISITED OR TRIED TO VISIT. AN EXCEPTIONAL BOOK FOR ANY TRIVIA OR FACT FAN. THE ZINES ARE GREAT ALSO!!

Absolutely Needed

It's a really neat book. Instead of wandering around and buying old Weird NJ magazines you can read all the weird stuff right here. Each time to read an article on something (like ghosts, or odd findings) you understand it a bit more cleary. It's also really funny when you happen to live in the same town there is a legend or ghost. You must get it

Great Book!

As a Jersey girl all my life, I enjoyed reading every story/legend in their book. I could relate to a number of areas of the state and thought it was a brilliant idea to write about it.

Great to spook the kids!

I've been reading the magazine for years and then bought the book. While camping in South Jersey, I read spooky stories to the kids at night around the campfire. It freaked them out! By the end of the night all 4 of them were in our tent! Now I plan to buy Weird US !

Weird NJ rocks!!!!

Before I picked up and read Weird NJ, New Jersey was just any other state. This book opened up a whole new world known as weird New Jersey. With the New Jersey Devil and Midgetville, Weird NJ is a must-have for all readers.

You Don't Know What You Miss Until Your Gone!

I really didn¿t know what I was missing until I was gone and go I went ¿to Florida. Weird NJ reminded me of some things I have seen or heard of and took for granted when I was growing up there. I used to set out to get lost some Saturday mornings searching for the places and things like those chronicled in Weird NJ. This book is a great collection of New Jersey¿s back road, down home history. New Jersey is a small state bursting at its¿ seems with myths, lore and bizarre reality and Mark and Mark bring it all together in Weird NJ. From New Jersey and don¿t know much about it? READ THIS BOOK!!!! Thanks for the book guys.

Must Buy!

This is a great book to own!!! If you live in Jersey like me, and haven't heard of these guys, then do you'll definetely be surprised, and interested in all the sites this book chronicles. Chances are this book will touch upon a story or location that is right by where you live, such as where I live in Belleville (Lady in White). Trust me you won't be disappointed as you'll come to learn the 'weird' happenings that make our state one of a kind. You might even read about things you've already heard about or seen living in NJ. BUY IT!!!

All the Letters That Couldn't Fit in the Magazine.

Well, its all come down to this. Mark and Mark have done the best thing for the fans of the magazine, write a book. The book holds a ton of letters that never made it into the magazine and some that did. This is both a book for fans of the magazine and for those who just love the state of New Jersey. Its a must see so check it out. Its really worth a look.

Awesome

I've been reading the Weird NJ magazines since I was 7 years old, currently 16, and have loved every single issues thru all these 9 years. Needless to say, the book really caught my eye. I was randomly walking thru Barnes & Noble bored and stumbled across it. I literally thought I was going to have angina pains or pass out, but luckily I stayed in tact to pick it up. My eyes were so fixated on the cover that my sister, who I was with, said I looked possessed. And I was, because it was Weird NJ. Not ONLY Weird NJ, but a BOOK ABOUT IT! When I got home I couldn't put it down. I'm already past page 100, and this is my second day of owning it. Alright enough of this, I'm going to read now.

I LOVE WEIRD NJ!

This book is GREAT! If you love Weird NJ the magazine, you'll love this! Hell, if you love Jersey, you will totally enjoy this book! Weird NJ will look great on your coffee table and definitely will spark many a debate!!!

Truth IS stranger than fiction!

Well I know that this book won't even be released for another couple of weeks yet, but I just wanted to be the first to chime in with my review. I work at a small radio station in central Jersey and we received and advanced media copy of the book for review. I've been a huge fan of the magazine for years now, so when I saw the book come across my desk I almost had a heart attack! I didn't even know there was going to be a book. I hid for the rest of the day in the stock room and bathroom and under my desk so that I could read the book. I couldn't put it down! I even brought it home with me that first night (which is toatally against staion policy). Anyway, all I can say is this: if you know the magazine, you'll LOVE the book, and if you've never seen the magazine, you might just drop dead when you see the book and realize what you've been missing all these years. The beauty of Weird NJ is that all of this stuff they write about it real, to some degree, it's not just made up. It makes me kind of proud and a little bit freaked out that I live in this very messed up state. Enoy!
