Weird Stories from the Old Country
What if you knew, beyond any doubt, that it was your heritage to be on of the werewolves of Malta? But your grandparents had emigrated to Canada decades earlier, and your father has never breathed a word of what lies in the past? Five years after the Mediterranean cruise on which Alex and Melody met and fell in love, they are married and living in El Paso, Texas, where Alex has accepted a visiting professorship with the University. One day Jp Falsoni shows up unexpectedly at Alex's office. Just a young boy on that cruise, Jp is now an assertive adolescent who knows things about the wolves that no outsider should know, and he demands that Alex help him become the being he is sure he is meant to be. Thousands of miles from home and from the Lycanthropic Council, and aware that Jp's father has spurned his heritage, what is Alex to do? Help the boy in his quest or stand aside and watch him suffer? In this latest addition to The Wolves of Malta cycle, the reader begins both to understand more about the wolves' history and tradition and to wonder, even as Alex does, how that history began and what their ancient devotion to the Goddess might really mean.
