Originally a triple LP in 1974, this album documents why art or classical rock music fell out of favor. The trio felt that they needed no backing musicians. As a result, Keith Emerson filled the spaces where a guitarist would have been. After a while, the keyboards become overwhelming, drowning Lake and Palmer in Emerson's ego. The sound is not as bad as some reviews on other sites claim, but neither is it 21st century. An anthology, and there are many, is a better way to meet ELP.Was this review helpful?
