    Precious Past III.

This is a review for the book Welcome to Addy's World 1864: Growing Up During America's Civil War: The U.S.A. Civil War began in 1861. In 1864 Addy and her family heard of many slaves preparing to escape slavery by fleeing to the North. This work of non-fiction tells of America's history during slavery, the Civil War, and the years following the end of the Civil War. Within the covers of this book are beautiful color illustrations and photos to hold the reader's attention. Pages 6 and 7 show the map of states for and against slavery. This book would be good for a reference in writing a report about the USA Civil War. Information such as the January 1, 1863 Emancipation Proclamation date is provided in this book. Another fascinating fact is that in 1862 Mary Jane Patterson was one of the first African American women to graduate from Ohio's Oberlin College. When you read this book you will learn what I.C.Y. stands for. Who was Daniel Webster Dangerfield? Inside this work of non-fiction is the answer.

This book is so interesting. It tells you how people looked, how they dressed, what they did, and even how furniture and shops looked in the 1800s. I can't wait to read more AMERICAN BOOK STORIES!!! I LOVE TO READ ABOUT HISTORY!!!
