Editorial Reviews

Harry Gilleland, Jr.
The authors offer great insight with ideas and suggestions beneficial to any grandparent, but especially to the new grandparent. The book discusses how you can best interact with the grandchild as an infant, a toddler, the middle years, the teen years, and through their becoming grownups. Weis and Johnston also offer great advice on communicating with the parents and working with them in the best interests of the grandchildren. The authors are to be commended for a job well done.
Nancie Meng
Weis and Johnston urge us to remember that grandparents have opportunities to make a difference "not only in the lives of your grandchildren, but in the lives of your children as well." They remind us that grandparenting is an important role and that the key to success is to work as a team with our kids for the benefit of our grandchildren. Weis and Johnston packed this tiny book with loads of common sense, tips and activity ideas. This book should be part of your library.

Meet the Author

Rosemary Weis is a mother of six children and a grandmother many times over. No one can deny Rosemary’s great passion for children, education and family issues. She has pioneered town-wide enrichment programs for elementary and middle school students, designed and taught after-school cooking classes to teenagers, and has extensive volunteer experience working with a number of children’s charities. In addition to Welcome to Grandparenting, Rosemary published the children’s Christmas tale Candy Canes and Dandy Planes. She resides in the Orlando, Florida area where she’s working on several book projects and keeps a magnet on her refrigerator that reads, "My favorite people call me Grandma."

Michelle Johnston, with her three children, is happily responsible for elevating Rosemary Weis to the title of Grandmother. She resides in the Orlando, Florida area, where she first applied her talents in children’s program development at the Disney Institute. She currently freelances as a contributing author and editor when not developing her own projects. Michelle treasures the time she spends with family and hopes to someday become half as good a grandmother as her own mother.
