Meet the Author

Demelza Carlton has always loved the ocean, but on her first snorkelling trip she found she was afraid of fish. She has since swum with sea lions, sharks and sea cucumbers and stood on spray-drenched cliffs over a seething sea as a seven-metre cyclonic swell surged in, shattering a shipwreck below. Sensationalist spin? No - Demelza tends to take a camera with her so she can capture and share the moment later; shipwrecks, sharks and all. Demelza now lives in Perth, Western Australia, the shark attack capital of the world. The Ocean's Gift series was her first foray into fiction, followed by the Nightmares trilogy. She swears the Mel Goes to Hell series ambushed her on a crowded train and wouldn't leave her alone.

The author, Demelza Carlton, has written a unique perspective on heaven and hell. She has presented them in a corporation capacity were the employees are encumbered with tasks related to the company’s expansion and interest. The Hell Corporation is set as any other company, and Heaven has sent an Angel, Melody Angel or just Mel, in to gain corporate secrets and information. Mel is sent to acquire a job inside The Hell Corporation, called Health, Environment, Life, and Lands Corporation by Archangel Raphael, to find out the extent of their power. Also, she is to see Lucifer is around and take him down. “The more power Hell gets, the harder they’ll be to take down, and we have to stop them. We can’t let Lucifer win,” is what, the uneasy and a little distraught , Mel is told by Raphael. Mel gets the job and as much as she isn’t particularly happy about sets out to get the job done. Welcome to Hell: A Short Story (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 1) is well written and amusing. The author has incorporated a sense of humor into her writing. The use of the corporate world alone is hilarious. But she finds the humorous side of religion, demons, and angels, in which have been given human personality along with all the humanistic imperfections. The book is, in a word, entertaining.

3.5 stars: WELCOME TO HELL is the first installment (and prequel novella) in Demelza Carlton's contemporary, adult MEL GOES TO HELL paranormal romance series focusing on Melody Angel from the Helpful Angels Agency, and Luce (aka Lucifer) Iblis , the CEO of HELL (Health, Environment, Life and Lands Corporation). Told from third person point of view (Melody Angel) WELCOME TO HELL introduces the characters, some background and premise of Demelza Carlton's paranormal series MEL GOES TO HELL. The Angel Raphael assigns Mel to infiltrate HELL to uncover the truth behind HELL's business plan and corporate policies, and the identity of the man in charge. WELCOME TO HELL is a quick read; an imaginative introduction meant to tease the reader into wanting something more.

It was a quirky quick read, but did the trick and left me wanting to read more. Ms. Carlton is an excellent writer and I love this series. I highly recommend it! This is a paranormal romance series and I give it an A. Fans of MaryJanice Davidson will definitely love it.

Welcome to Hell by Demelza Carlton is a hilarious introduction to the Hell Corporation. Good for some giggles and laughs as Demelza pokes fun at Hell. Meet Lucifer, the CEO and quite the hunk. He’s already got an evil glint in his eye when he literally runs into Mel as she is applying for a job. How would you prepare for a job at HELL Corporation? (Health Environments Life and Lands Corporation) Raphael at the Helpful Angels Agency tells her Mel has the job. She would be at Hells door promptly at nine. Demelza describes Mel’s commute on the train after the interview. I couldn’t help but chuckle as she talks about the briefcase, but I burst out belly laughing when she talked about farting. Does an Angel fart? Check it out if you feel the need to have a chuckle or two.

Funny intro to a new Paranormal series 4.5 *Book source ~ Picked up for free on Amazon. Mel is an angel sent to get a job at Health, Environment, Life and Lands Corporation, AKA HELL. Angel intel has Lucifer up to his usual sneaky take over the world tactics and using a mundane business as his front. Raphael begs Mel to get a job inside so they can get the 411 on what’s going on and whether they need to send in the heavy hitters, the archangels. She reluctantly agrees to take the job, but does she really know what’s she’s getting into? This is a really short intro to the Mel Goes to HELL series. Well-written and funny if this is an example of what is upcoming then this series promises to be amusing. I’m looking forward to reading Book 2 See You in HELL.
