All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Ray Price was one of the great Texan honky tonkers and his band incubated tremendous talent -- Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, and Johnny Paycheck all played in his Cherokee Cowboys -- but he was also one of the great country balladeers. Instead, think of Welcome to My World as a portrait of the softer side of Price, a showcase for his easy listening records, the songs that could easily have slid onto the adult contemporary pop charts he did chart there, with singles that are nowhere to be found here, and in that sense it's welcome indeed, as there has been no other disc to dig into this area of Price's career indeed, many of these songs never showed up on CD prior to this.
