First off, this is a GREAT book if you're looking for information on becoming physically healthier -BUT- potential buyers should know right off the bat that it's an academic textbook, or in other words, a classroom book. If that turns you totally off, look elsewhere. However having said that, there are several good reasons why just about ANYBODY who's looking for wellness info will like this book. One, is that it's written in a non-technical manner, so it's actually an easy, uncomplicated read. And two, it's comprehensive. Here's some of the info it covers: -how to change behavior (you may know what's good for you, but that won't help unless you're motivated to change) -it shows you how to assess your physical fitness -it covers the major areas of fitness: cardiorespiratory fitness, flexibility, strength, and coping with stress -it tell you how to deal with common injuries you might come across while trying to get into shape such as back problems (was a little disappointed there was nothing on rotator cuff injuries- suggest "Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff" for good info on that). In sum, this book is very complete and probably is a little more of a do-it-yourself book than most realize. Based upon a lot of sound, scientific information, I recommend it to anyone who is getting started getting fit or simply wants a good wellness resource to refer to.
