Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jean Boreen
The 25th anniversary edition of We’re Going on A Bear Hunt features the original text and illustrations but adds sound in a manner that allows little readers to interact with the text. The majority of the original text is offered in black and white and features the familiar “We’re going on a bear hunt,/ We’re going to catch a big one.” and “…can’t go over it,/We can’t go under it,/Oh, no! We’ve got to go through it!” The book then switches to color on the following page as a prompt for little readers to push the sidebar picture matching the color picture. Children will love the sounds that correspond to the pictures and will, I am sure, wear out the battery attached to the book through consistent pressing (directions of the back of the book provide helpful advice on changing the battery). The illustrations, in charcoal and watercolor, have held up beautifully over 25 years and this fun adventure is still one that children will enjoy. This will be a welcome addition to many public and family libraries. Reviewer: Jean Boreen, Ph.D.; Ages 1 to 7.
