We're in Love with the World of Janie Jones

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Richie Unterberger

Even if you're in this for the laugh -- certainly no one could make grand claims for the music -- this is really stretching things past reasonable limits. The "Witches Brew" hit and mod music-hall comic items like "Tickle Me Tootsie Wootsies" and "Gunning for You" aren't all that amusing, and when ...

The "Witches Brew" hit and mod music-hall comic items like "Tickle Me Tootsie Wootsies" and "Gunning for You" aren't all that amusing, and when Jones ditched saucy comedy for pure pop, well, let's just say that Jackie DeShannon does an infinitely better job with Jimmy Webb's "Girl's Song." Incredibly Strange Music fans will get a kick out of this; otherwise, the market is restricted to Clash completists, who will need this for the Janie Jones and the Lash single, as well as the lo-fi Joe Strummer demo of "House of the Ju-Ju Queen" that's also included.
