Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Vicki Foote
George burps a huge burp and crazy things happen, but he can't help it. The super burp involuntarily causes him to do all sorts of things that he normally wouldn't do. He thinks that the burp was brought on by a wish that he made on a shooting star. In this book in the "George Brown, Class Clown" series George is invited to Louie's birthday party. George and Louie don't like each other, but George was invited because Louie's mom insisted that he invite everyone in his grade. George wants to go because the party is at a water park. George doesn't want to burp and get in trouble at the party, so his friend Alex tries to help him find a way to get rid of the burp. Alex is also trying to break the record for the world's largest ball made of gum that has been chewed. All of this leads to some rambunctious mayhem that should have the reader laughing out loud. George is intent on trying to suppress his burp, but no matter how hard he tries, it happens. After he burps at the toy store, he goes out of control and rides a tricycle and jumps up on the storefront window to play with paddleballs. The party at the water park brings lots of outrageous happenings since George can't control his burps. The illustrations in black and white throughout the book provide more humor. The story provides lots of surprises (without being gross), and lots of laughs for young readers who will love the chaos of George Brown and his friends. Reviewer: Vicki Foote
