Overview

A concept album of sorts in the sense that each of the songs has something to do with water, Wet was the third of a trilogy of albums produced by Gary Klein in a soft rock vein increasingly set in the synth-pop style of the late '70s and early '80s. The concept allowed for a range of material, from old favorite Harold Arlen's "Come Rain or Come Shine" to an updated version of the old Bobby Darin hit "Splish Splash." The album's number one hit was "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)," a disco duet with Donna Summer. But most of the songs were newly written ballads attempting to re-create the "Evergreen"/"The Way We Were" style of Streisand's recent hits. "Kiss Me in the Rain''" grazed the Top 40. Yet there was enough variety on the album to make it an average Streisand outing. ~ William Ruhlmann
